MD's Take
As a physician, I have a traditional Welch-Allyn otoscope I have used for years. The rechargeable battery on the otoscope I've had since medical school gave out and while shopping around for a replacement, I came upon this new camera based otoscope. The price was reasonable so I decided to buy one for home use. Prime shipping was quick as always and I was pleasantly surprised that the digital otoscope came charged and was of much higher quality than I would have expected. It works very well and probably offers some significant advantages over the traditional optical otoscope. Namely, given that it has a compact, sturdy, well built metal "camera wand", you can use it to look inside your own auditory canal and even your nasal passages and tonsils. The picture quality is better than expected. I have used this to look inside my kids' ears to assess swimmer's ear. The tympanic membrane is readily visible. One downside perhaps is that you do not have the option to insufflate (blow air via a squeeze bulb) like a traditional otoscope but for the average user, this isn't much of an issue. Bottom line: -well built -compact -sturdy -good resolution -excellent battery life -more uses than just looking inside auditory canals Overall, I'd recommend this product.

Great camera. Light does not get too hot
The image is very clear on the screen. You can see clearly even with the black exam scope tips attached. I left the scope on for at least 10 minutes to see if the light would get too hot for my ear. I thought maybe I noticed only a very mild warmth on my finger from the light after 10 minutes, but I was still able to put the scope in my ear, touching all the sides of my ear, and not feel any difference in my ear canal. Only con: once you attach a cleaning tip on the end of the scope and insert into your ear canal, you cannot see what the tip is touching before it makes contact. I touched the tympanic membrane several times and winced before I realized I was not going to be able to see or feel how far into my ear canal the cleaning tip was. I do not recommend using the tips for cleaning out your ear canal if you are using the camera to try and visualize ear wax at the same time.

Great Otoscope!
Great as an otoscope that you can use on yourself. When I was in kindergarten, I fell asleep outside and had the unfortunate luck of waking up to a scratching noise in my ear....after much convincing, my mom finally brought me to the doctor who looked inside of my ear, and confirmed my worst fear--a silverfish was making itself at home in there. Needless to say, I tend to be a bit paranoid about feelings in my ear and always assume the worst case scenario. If the camera ever appears foggy or less than clear, clean the lens as instructed and you should be as good as new. Having this be a self-contained unit and not require the use of my phone with a separate app to use is a big plus in my opinion and one of the reasons I purchased. This camera scope is very functional, provides a clear picture, and gives me peace of mind--totally worth it. There is a bit of a learning curve, but becomes easy to use once you get the hang of it.

EENT Bill Saver
I bought an open fit hearing aid that uses various size domes for a tighter fit for my left ear. It seemed to work well for a couple of days until I noticed that the dome was missing. I looked all over and could not find it. Suspecting the worse, I went online and learned that many people were having to have the domes removed after they were stuck in the ear canal. I visited an emergency clinic and the nurse practitioner who treated me claimed that she could not see anything in my ear canal. I think she just did not want to deal with it. I was suspicious and felt that the dome was in my ear and not just misplaced in the house. But I did not want to go to an EENT clinic just to find out that the nurse practitioner was correct. So I discovered and ordered this Digital Otoscope that Supported Photo Snap and Video Recording. It was supper easy to set up and use. Sure enough, as soon as I put the probe in my ear, there it was. I could clearly see the almost transparent plastic dome stuck up against my eardrum. The light in the ear probe was strong and produced a very clear color display on the built-in screen. I tried to remove it myself but did not feel safe in doing so. With a recording of what I found, in case I needed to prove it was there, I went to an EENT clinic and the doctor was able to remove it with his special tools. EENT clinics are not cheap so this is a wonderful tool for someone like me who has always had problems with excessive wax buildup and other ear problems. This little tool is well worth the price saved from on EENT visits.

Get what you pay for.
Ordered yesterday and received today. Opened good packaging and after reading the simple instructions, turned it on. Within 5 minutes I was looking at a perfect picture of my inner ear! This camera does what it says. I also returned another $25 "ear camera" today that links with your phone to view the picture which was a complete waste of my money and time. The app never downloaded until I entered my credit card and then it said that I had three days "free" until they would start the auto pay of $39.99 per month for the account. No mention of that in the ad on Amazon. Lesson learned.... Pay the money and get a quality system that works out of the box with NO SURPRISES.

Okay but not a keeper
Very cool idea, but return because the quality of the video was not great and we didn’t know what we were looking at. If nothing else it provided amusement.
