Great for those that need just a little help
As someone who’s spent years mentoring and training both technical teams and young learners, I appreciate materials that are structured, purposeful, and easy to integrate. Linda Beech’s Extra Practice for Struggling Readers: Word Study delivers exactly that. The activities are straightforward and well paced, making them ideal for reinforcing foundational skills like phonics, word families, and decoding strategies. I’ve used this with my daughter during our evening reading routines, and it’s helped build confidence without overwhelming her. The illustrations are simple but engaging, and the exercises strike a good balance between repetition and variety. Whether you're working with students in a classroom or supporting reading at home, this book offers a solid toolkit for strengthening word recognition and fluency. Highly recommended for parents, tutors, or educators looking for extra practice that actually sticks.

Good resource for older learners
I think this could be used for upper elementary and above. I personally used it with adult learners, some ESL and some English speakers with limited reading experience or traumatic brain injuries. The worksheets are great for practice and I ended up modeling the structure with other vocabulary words in our curriculum. It doesn’t have any lessons in it, just the supplementary practice

Struggle readers
I just like to make sure I get the struggling readers back to back. I know the videos are not the best that I take because I like to rush through it but at least you know what you’re getting when it comes to it.

The easiest one of the extra practice for struggling readers set
My daughter has dyslexia and we are really making a bigger effort this year to learn since she is getting older and focusing more. Also her younger brother can read properly now. Anyway this set of books is really good. I like them a lot, they have 24 lessons which focuses on a few words and they are 3 pages each. This book is the easiest of the 3. She really liked it. I’m just happy because she could them on her own and empower her and show her that it is not that hard if you just take the time
