THE play yard
This play yard is AWESOME! Yes, I am that excited about it. We have only had it a week, but so far so good! First off, I love the size of this play yard. I bought it for my 7 month old daughter. It is an awesome size- she can spin around in it, and has good mobility in it since it is larger than a pack n play. It does not have padding- just a thin synthetic material bottom. So, if you are putting it on a hard surface, I suggest putting a yoga mat or something down. We have a yoga mat and then a fun bright colored quilt laying in the bottom when its being used inside. I love all the corners of it, she can have all kinds of toys sprawled about. Now, other than size, the other BIG factor for me is this play yard is so EASY to put together. It takes about 20 seconds. Seriously. I take it down every day at the end of the day, and put it back up in the morning or afternoon, whenever we decide to use it. The typical pack n play I also have, is a pain to put together, and take down. They say they are great for travel etc, but seriously, they're a pain. This is so easy. All you do is pull the play yard out, and then hook these straps on the knuckles of the joints each corner. Easy peasy. It would be really easy to take out to a park, or to a baby sitters, etc if needs be. It is also quite tall, I couldn't get inside of it if I wanted to. So that means she can't get out, (yay for being able to keep her safe when I need to do dishes). Also, the dogs can't bother her either. Also, one the outside of one of the sides, there is a little pocket sewn in that holds the instructions, in case you need them, which is nice. No losing the pamphlet. Overall, if you are looking for a play yard, one that is easy to put up and take down, and one that is a larger size for your baby or young child to enjoy, this is it.

Nov 2019 Comparison: Regalo vs Summer Infant Portable Play Yards
The most recent comparison between these 2 produce was in Nov 2017, so I decided to order both and do my own comparison. See below. The Regalo and Summer Infant (Original) pop up play yards are basically the exact same overall product with a few minor differences. My choice about which to keep is based solely on how convenient each is for our specific needs and method of use. This may be completely different for someone else with different needs. In short, if I would primarily keep it assembled and only break it down a few times a month, I’d most certainly go with the superiorly constructed Summer Infant product, especially since at the time of purchase, Summer was $44 and Regalo was $66 (but new, open box was $38). However, since we only wanted to purchase 1 play space and will frequently move it from the first floor (main space) to the third floor (office) as well as take to friends’ non-infant/toddler-proofed houses, Regalo seems like the better option for our particular needs. Additionally, even though I’m not the most experienced seamstress, I can decently hand repair problems with stitching as they develop. Both: *Compact and easy to carry in included bag with strap *Thin fabric for floor, requires foam mat or blanket between floor and the product if you have hardwood floors like us. (This is NOT the case for the upgraded Sweetlife version of the Summer Infant, currently $89.99 with a padded floor, but outside our budget.) *Hard cross-bars that others have mentioned could be a safety hazard (but easily fixed with foam plumbing pipe insulation for ~$1.20/6ft piece from big box hardware stores.) Regalo Pros: *Faster assembly (click down two bars at foot level, once removed from carry bag, it takes <30 sec) - likely once I’m more experienced, I should be able to complete this even with an infant in arms *Can set the tautness of straps around each of the 6 feet, and can maintain how taut when take down for transport and reassembled - important as I will be frequently disassembling and reassembling. *Fabric (sides and bottom as 1 piece) can be removed from the frame for washing. Although it clearly states not to machine wash (see pic), it does not state anywhere that it can’t be fully submerged to hand wash in a laundry tub. As an alternative, the fabric can be placed in a large hand wash laundry bag for gentle cleaning in wash machines, but I’d probably still do this on gentle cycle and only with mild detergent. Cons: *Bottom of fabric doesn’t reach the floor near the outer perimeter. I’m not sure yet what that means for the durability of the seams between the mesh and the floor fabric, but I’d assume the seam will take more stress when little one is playing around the perimeter. *Poor stitching quality, especially around the upper part of the frame *Mesh is not as tightly held to the frame on the crossbars, however, this is because it isn’t permanently attached but instead has Velcro’s straps (see pro about removal of fabric from frame) Summer Infant Pros: *Much better stitching quality and therefore likely to last longer *Fabric at bottom of playpen goes the whole way to the floor, including around perimeter. I’m assuming this will mean that the stitching holding the mesh sides to the floor fabric will undergo less stress and therefore f be more durable *Mesh is held tightly to the crossbar parts of the frame by permanent attachment points. Cons: *Slower assembly (though is still <3min, so it is still great) and requires 6 straps be slid over each of 6 feet and then each individually tightened by a pull down strap. *Method to disassemble requires loosening of straps and sliding off each foot, so I’m unable to maintain the tautness when moving this upstairs. *Fabric is permanently attached to the frame and therefore cannot be removed to wash. The Regalo claims you should only sponge/spot clean anyways (see pic), so if you plan to follow those instructions, this would similarly be a con for the Regalo too, making the ease of fabric/mesh removal a relatively moot point.

Best Idea Ever!!!
Best invention yet for a mother of multiple children! I can whip this sucker out quickly and easily when I go to a friend's house or the park. It is easy to tote in and set up quickly so you can contain your infant or toddler quickly. I wouldn't recommend this for sleeping for a young baby but other than that, it is a dream. It is about the same weight as our collapsible tailgating lawn chairs. I can easily carry this in its bag on one shoulder and my 18 month old at the same time. I also like that the bottom sits directly on the ground. I can let my 3 year old play with her 18 month old sister without worrying that she is wearing it out. A standard pack-n-play is off the ground and I feel like heavier children stretch a pack-n-play out. I also like that it is only one layer of fabric so I can wash it off with a water hose outside easily and it dries relatively quickly. There is no padding in this. When you have to wash out a pack-n-play after a "spill" of sorts, it is never quite the same. The pack-n-play pad really isn't made to be washed. If we are setting this playard up on concrete I may bring a quilt along to make it more cozy. Lastly, I like this for staying in hotels with a young toddler. I can set it up and put a couple of soft quilts down in the bottom. This folds up and fits in the back of my crossover quite nicely. It is also much faster to setup and pack up than a standard pack-n-play. Anyone who travels with young children knows that the quicker you can contain them in unfamiliar places, the safer they are! I hope my review is helpful. If you are looking for a bed, this is not designed for that. If you are looking for an easy way to contain your child at home or on the go, this is the perfect thing!

... old granddaughter to use at my house and I love it!
I got this play yard for my nearly 8 mo old granddaughter to use at my house and I love it!! I ordered another one today for her to use at home. It's very sturdy, has lots of room for her and all of her toys. She can still crawl around and has plenty of room to play. It keeps her safe, and keeps my dogs away from her (and her toys). It sets up in minutes, folds back down in seconds, and stores out of the way behind my sofa. It's light weight and easy to handle, and I like the lining in the bottom (keeps the carpet clean). Another reviewer said it was flimsy. Not at all!! It's very sturdy! You have to tighten the straps that are on the bottom of each corner, and the straps hook on the bottom of each leg. That's what makes the sides sturdy. My 6 yr old granddaughter climbs over this to get in to play with her baby sister, and the sides don't collapse or sag. I lean over it a lot to play with the baby and it's strong and sturdy. I couldn't be happier with this playpen. It's very nice, well made, and very reasonably priced! A word about wrapping the bars with pool noodles . . . News flash: Babies fall down, go boom, bump their heads. Nothing wrong with keeping them safe (from REAL danger), but jeez people! Why not just make your kid wear a helmet from birth? My granddaughter tipped over today and bonked her noggin on that hard plastic cube toy in the picture. Should I wrap it in bubble wrap before allowing her to play with again? Once, she took a swan dive forward and bumped her mouth on the floor (she's just learning to crawl). Maybe I could re-carpet the house with thick foam. ?? NO ONE hates to see the baby get a boo-boo more than THIS grandma, but try to relax . . they're tougher than you think. :)

Perfect for what we needed.
Inevitably around that 6 month mark you have a decision to make, how are we going to stop this baby from crawling all the places we don't want him to crawl when you need to do the dishes, laundry, or other mundane normal activity. Also with 2 older girls and all of their toys it is almost impossible to keep a house child-proofed, so if your eyes need to be off him for a second you need a safe place to set him down. I did quite a bit of research looking into plastic and metal playpens, but the overall theme was that they are hard to set up and take down, and are normally stationary, even if they don't say so. We finally decided on this summer portable because the thinking is we can carry it up and down stairs, set it up when doing housework, and travel with it to the beach or park when needed. On un-boxing you find a duffle bag that looks very similar to beach chairs with a small footprint and an over the shoulder carrier. To unravel you just spread it apart and it extends out to 90% of its octagon shape. You need to loop 6 straps to get that last 10% extension and help secure the frame that will eventually hold your standing little guy. I was surprised at how light this is but overjoyed at the sturdy feeling once fully extended. I also enjoyed the bottom tarp so bugs, sticks and outer outdoor debris are a temptation for a very curious little one. Size-wise this is probably perfect for 6-12 months, because it has enough space to crawl around and more than enough space to scatter toys around. I'm guessing once we hit the 12-24 mark there will be a time when this "huge" new world is no longer that interesting and climbing out will be the new challenge. We've been using this for a few weeks and it's worked exactly as intended. It let's us load some dishes, do some basic housework or keeps him to a safe confined and enjoyable space when we need to and travels easily. Overall I would recommend this as an easy transport and safe environment for your little guy.

Very nice, easy and portable
I bought this playard for our 7 month old who is starting to crawl and get into everything! I wanted something spacious for him to move around in but still small enough for our small house. These play yard is perfect for that. I love that it is easy to assemble and disassemble in case we want to take it on the go or to the grandparents house. It is even large enough for me to sit in with him when at first trying to get him used to being inside of it. Only downside would be the crossbars and how easy it is for babies to bump their heads on them thru the mesh. I liked the idea of using pool noodles as suggested by another reviewer. However, with it being winter, pool noodles are hard to find right now. Instead, my husband and I went to the hardware store and got pipe insulation foam which comes in perfect diameter for the 1/2 in crossbars and is already pre slit and smaller around than a pool noodle. Also, this foam is dark grey so it blends with color of crossbars rather than bright colors that pool noodles come in. So for $6 we were able to make safer for baby's head. Sure they have to be removed when folding up, but small price to pay for safety. However, since we used pipe insulation foam, the foam pierces can all easily fit in a reusable shopping bag which makes it easier to transport our safety hack to take on the go. Overall, so far we are happy with this playard for our needs.

The best Play Yard!
We have a very active and curious little girl in a big house with lots of stairs, book cases, a small dog , a cat and a big DVD collection that we would rather not have her into. Enter this amazing play yard!! It has lots of space inside for her to crawl, sit, and play while letting her feel independent and letting us know that she isn't able to get into anything she shouldn't; she can also see out on all sides in all directions which is fantastic for the animals safety and hers. She is able to see and chat with them but not try to chase or eat them. It is so spacious inside that we have sat in it with her to play and even with an adult, an 8 month old and a bunch of her toys there is still lots of room to move around. We have taken down and put up the play yard all over our house, our friends homes, the beach and the grass and love the ease of clean up (sand etc), the ease of set up and take down. It fits so neatly back in it's carry case and is super light weigh which is a plus with all the other gear we haul around for her. When it isn't in use it takes up so little space I couldn't believe it! We had a traditional pack and play that we used initially but I wasn't able to put it up or take it down alone and it was bulky and heavy to haul not to mention impossible to cram back in its case. The Pop'n Play has solved all of those issues! I can pop it up in just a few seconds and we are ready to play. We love this so much it is now our "go to" for shower gifts for friends and our parents have one at their home as well for when we visit.

It’s super easy to set up and take down, making it perfect for trips to the park, beach, or even just in the backyard. The playard is spacious and sturdy, providing a safe space for play without feeling confined. Its lightweight design and compact fold make it easy to carry, and the mesh sides allow for good visibility and airflow. Highly recommend for parents looking for a portable, convenient play space!
