It's like hot paprika powder. Chili and fruity taste and it's got heat. Just a dash on a pasta and sauce entree or you can add it to marinara sauce you cook.

This will seriously turn the heat up - a little goes a long way for sure - but it's addicting good. If your recipe calls for Italian chili powder, this is the real deal and a very different flavor profile than Mexican style chili powder. As a side note, if you're sensitive to hot flavors in food, I really suggest you ignore the quantity a recipe recommends and add half the amount, then taste and adjust to more if you can tolerate it.

Love this powder. Best value I was able to find for buying it in bulk. I've been using this every time I make Capicola in my dry curing chamber. It adds some outstanding flavor. When my jar runs out, I'll be buying more.

This Calabrian chili powder has a slight smoky-type flavor. The heat will sneak up on you, but it won't overpower the other ingredients. It's perfect for fra diavolo.

Disappointing I bought this item because I was told to be very spicy with great taste. About the taste, it was true! About being spicy I find pepper flakes to be hotter.

When I lived in Florence for a year a friend would make me dinner now and then and each time come up and offer this table-side, and give you more than you asked for with a snicker. I got to loving it and used cayenne for yeas as a substitute, because the heat is similar, but it doesn’t taste the same. I recently ran out of cayenne actually, and bought this stuff instead. But my wife informs me she doesn’t like it as much as cayenne in her coffee(which she pairs with cinnamon). So, there you go. Not a cayenne substitute. It’s a lot more bright of a flavor, and not as finely ground as normal cayenne. My wife tells me it sinks to the bottom of her coffee instead of sitting on too. I do love it though, but perhaps should correctly label the bottle I put it in.

Have used it several times and enjoyed it. Admittedly I’ve had it for several months but have stored it as directed and haven’t found visitors in anything else. Was preparing a recipe today and the tiny chunks I’d seen before must have been……. Eggs? Very disappointed; so much for the vegan/vegetarian friendly bit in the description, eh?

I purchased this to craft some Italian Charcuterie. (Hot Capocollo, Calabrian Pork Tenderloin, etc. ) That said, use it in place of any of your favorite dishes that require heat. Enjoy !
