Just received this yesterday. I have a 2017 Nissan Maxima that has 2 USB ports. I wanted a wireless Apple CarPlay connection so I purchased a wireless adapter (the Carlinkit 5.0). Through research I found that you need to use both USB ports in order to get the wireless adapter to work. I also just recently purchased the AutoSky adapter for Netflix and YouTube capabilities. Same deal. Wouldn’t connect to the car unless I used both USB ports. This item was the solution and worked perfectly when I set it up yesterday. You’ll need a USB-A to USB-C adapter as well. I’ll edit this and will post a pic of the set up when I get a chance for anyone for anyone that may be having the same issue.

Some older Nissan vehicles such as my 2017 Maxima, requires that both USB ports be used when using a wireless CarPlay adapter. Apparently, one of the USB ports is not sufficiently powered to run CarPlay so you need to plug in this adapter into both USB ports and then plug the wireless adapter into the splitter. It took me a while to figure out that I needed to do that but once I did, it’s worked flawlessly and I couldn’t be happier with the splitter.

Did you get here because you have a wireless CarPlay adapter that keeps power cycling before initializing… perhaps you have a Nissan? This will fix your problems. It provides continuous power from secondary usb port and the data/power usb port stays active, allowing it to boot up.

This is NOT a USB splitter!! It is a power enhancer, using the power from two USB ports into one. Maybe it works for that application if I needed that but in my opinion the description does not identify it properly.

Item works as described, Make sure you understand what it's doing. It plugs in like normal to one port (sends data and gets power) and the other port it only adds power to aid with weak power. So one use could be if the data port is a unpowered usb port you can add power to your device thru the other power only end, or if the device isn't getting enough power it can also pull power from a different port. I wanted all the power fed by a external source so I also bought some power blocking usb with data pass thru for my scenario. This was cheaper than a all in one cable that blocked power from the motherboard side. Worked for me.

Did not work for my set up ..seem only one side (blue) works

I used this with my Wii U and it worked perfectly. I was able to power the SSD, and the Wii U was able to read it. Very easy to use—just plug and play. The cable feels good quality and durable. Good value for money; I was worried that being so cheap it wouldn’t work, but it did. The connectivity appears to be USB 3.

Works well to power a wireless CarPlay adapter and for data however the wire is a little short.

Works well I am using it for my Wii u for my hard drive.

Tried with Uno Drum to separate power from data to reduce audio noise. Initially, Uno Drum would crash every time used as intended, and would only power up properly using data cable end connected to power only. By swapping some USB cables I did manage to get it to work with the right connections, but there was no difference in noise with or without cable and using a USB isolator on the data side made noise worse. For other uses it may be fine. Delivery was quick and no complaints there.
