Several years ago, I had my gallbladder removed and bile duct surgery. The doctors placed me on Omeprazole. I stayed on it for years, not realizing that it was not a long-term medication. About three years ago, I stopped the Omeprazole and switched to Grass-Fed Ox Bile Extract 1000mg Bile Salts Supplements with Black Pepper by Eleva (two in the morning. (This is the best brand I found.)) And when I ate something that increased the heartburn, such as something really spicy or with high sugar, I would take some baking soda in water. Which really helped, but was inconvenient, especially when I was away from home. I decided I wanted something in pill form and found these. To be completely honest, the reason I purchased these as opposed to a different option, was the price point and the number of tablets. When the heartburn starts, I take two of these tablets with a glass of water. I have noticed that they don't act as fast as the baking soda and water, but it seems to work better. Also, I have noticed, that since I have started taking these, the heartburn spikes aren't as bad; they are much milder that before and the frequency has evened out.

I started having GERD issues several years ago. Bought a wedge for sleeping, that helped immensely. About a year ago I started having nightly acid stomach issues again. I took Tums when I awoke in the middle of the night with a burning esophagus, that worked. But as it happened more and more frequently, I started drinking1 tap. baking soda mixed in a quart of water every evening. That worked. But after 8 months, the bitter taste made it more and more difficult to drink the full quart, so the irritation started to return. Then I saw the tablets. Bought a bottle, and started taking them....two midday, then three before bed. And no more GERD! Side note: I long ago discovered that sleeping on my left side minimizes the GERD, but sleeping on my right side immediately causes burning and pain. Figure it has to do with the way the stomach is situated. Anyhow, with these tablets, I can sleep on my right side with no burning! Also, I've had kidney stone problems for the past 18 years. Into the emergency room every 3 to 5 years with a stuck stone, (pain registering a 12 on a scale of 10), and one time requiring surgery. I am hoping that the sodium bicarbonate will keep me from ever having to endure that scenario again!
