Wood Is Good WD400 Small Hone Strop

I try to strop some wood-cutting knives with this. Seems to work OK. This is my first time stropping, so I don't really know what to expect of the knives after stropping. I don't feel that they are getting sharper, but they are not getting more blunt as well. So I guess it is working. The only thing is that residues build up on the surface of the hone strop, so the surface becomes uneven after a while.

This is a good strop, better even than real leather because this strop is very smooth. The usable strop area on the top is 1.25 inches by 6.5 inches. It is best suited for very small blades. The instructions recommend a powder compound as an abrasive, but I have been using a solid bar compound and it has worked fine.

Not a complex item to use, no high-technology so it's pretty straightforward.That said, it is easy to use a strop the wrong way and you can damage your cutting edge doing that.This stop is nice in the hand, easy to use, holds the honing compound well and works in a few strokes.Just what I needed, it replaced a worn out piece of leather from an old belt.

Although this strop is small it puts a fine edge on knives that I use to make reeds.

i bought this thinking it would be the final thing to use a straight razor, but then it also need their oxid powder. if u want this add in the price of the poweder so u get them both at the same time.
