Beats the toughest dandruff, hair looks great!
This is my go-to when my dandruff gets ahead of me. I use this as a once-in-a-while to supplement my usual pyrithione zinc shampoo. After my usual shampoo, it takes a microscopic amount of tar gel shampoo to suds up and reach my scalp. As a bonus, I have noticed that if I use this just once a week, not only is my dandruff tamed, but I get a "good hair day" after using it. More often than that and my hair gets dry and unmanageable.

fixes beardriff just as good as 2% zinc shampoo, no sting
I also use the DHS brand 2% zinc and this works just as well on my skin without the sting. I understand the tar gel version here is less stinky than the original, which I'm considering trying next because I've come to find out I really don't mind the odor and I think it's much less strong than it was when I smelled it on first use, and the odor doesn't stay behind when you rinse it out, so good on them. I just suspect that the non-gel version might work better, because they still sell it, there has to be a reason lol. Seems like it lasts too, you only need a dab or two. One 8oz bottle has lasted me all year and there's about 1/10th of it left by my estimate, but I'm only working with a beard lol.

2nd bottle now. Its great stuff
It's awesome. Smells like medicated shampoo with a touch of lemon. Little goes LONG way.

Better than T-Gel
Like a lot of people I'd imagine, I was looking for an alternative to Neutrogena T-Gel now that it's discontinued, & saw people talking about this one in a Reddit thread. I have to say, I think it's actually better than t-gel. I have seborrheic dermatitis, so my dandruff is more of the thick, oily dandruff that tends to be patchy & builds up. This does a better job at clearing that up, & it lasts longer between washes not only for the flakes/buildup, but also with my hair getting oily. Usually with the t-gel, I'd get about 2-3 days before the buildup & greasiness would get bad (I try not to wash my hair everyday), but with this I get about 4-5 days. I'm only giving it 4 stars because it doesn't eliminate the flakes entirely, but to be fair, I don't think anything would.

Asphalt in a bottle
This straight up smells like asphalt in a bottle. Not a slight smell. It is potent. It smells like the exact smell when someone has their driveway done, and you put the liquid form from this bottle onto your scalp and wait a few minutes. Hence the “coal tar.” I am currently on the step of waiting a few minutes but I just thought there should really be a review that points to the very potent smell. Guess I’ll find out if it works and update after.

Very Effective, Gentle
If you have a problem with seborrhiec dermatitis as I do, you know ordinary dandruff shampoos just aren't effective at handling the itch and flaky scalp. I went to a site that specializes in product recommendations for scalp conditions, and it recommended DHS shampoo for their lack of irritants and effectiveness, while also being gentle on hair and not irritatingly medicinal smelling. This shampoo is like a miracle product! I used it twice a week as recommended and after the first week, my problem was solved and my hair was in great shape. I do dye my hair and get highlights, and this shampoo didn't affect the color at all. My hair didn't feel dry or tangled after rinsing out the shampoo - I left it on for 5 minutes as recommended the first application, but with subsequent uses I only left it on for about a minute. I used Nature's Gate Tea Tree shampoo and conditioner as my alternate shampoo for a while, but now use a violet shampoo to retain the blonde tones in my dark blonde hair. I use the DHS gel shampoo about once every week and a half now.

Works Great!
My daughter was in a panic (like lots of people) when we found out that T-Gel was discontinued. I read some reviews on this product and decided to order it. My daughter has finished the first bottle and we just received the 2nd one through subscribe and save. She liked it so well that I added it to my monthly subscriptions. She said she thinks it works better than T-Gel and in my opinion, the smell is not as strong.
