Adjustable waist for growth spurts that seem to happen overnight. I have ordered the same size for 2 years for my son. My son is 10yrs average height but thick around the waist. Pants were not terribly long on him. Minimal shrinking in dryer. My son hates jeans or anything restrictive around his stomach.
