Chamberlain 41A4885-5 Garage Door Opener Gear and Sprocket Assembly Genuine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Part

I bought this on Amazon from Gate Openers Unlimited. I was concern since there were no photos of the product. And no other reviewer had uploaded photos. Now, there are lots of youtube videos online on how to install this, but they are not as easy as the videos since for some reason all the videos showing how to replace this unit are from chain version and it must be different since it is not so easy to remove parts from my Chamberlin Formula 1 belt driven garage door opener. In any case, I was able to replace it, but it took about 45 min. The package did have everything you need and more. It seemed like the OEM version. Oh, it only took 2 days for me to get the product (estimate was 5 days). so it was delivered much quicker than expected. I'm uploading lost of photos of what was shipped to me to help others know what is included in the package.

The sprocket of my belt driven garage opener broke due to the garage door not being correctly balanced. This new assembly was the perfect fit for a LiftMaster 3280M. Please notice that there are a few parts available for belt driven motors that look identical, and that the last digit of the part number of the assembly is what matches your specific garage opener model. This item did not come with the grease others come with. I honestly do not remember is that was in the picture or description of the product, but it was not a big deal for me since I had lithium grease at home. It is crucial to put grease on the moving parts, otherwise the motor may be damaged.

I was hesitant to buy this specific item because the terminology made it sound a little incomplete, and no picture is provided. All those gears and washers and clips and lithium grease were included. Most I did not need, but have saved, in case something else needs replaced. This assembly only lasted 20 years. Take pictures as you disassemble, and watch a Youtube if it is not obvious.

I called LiftMaster for help with my garage door opener and they diagnosed the problem as needing to replace this part. The gentleman who was helping me told me I could pay half the price by purchasing it on amazon. I was able to make the repair myself and save myself the time and money of hiring a garage door professional to do the work. Only complaint was the directions were a little difficult to follow and getting the pin out was very difficult. I ended up squeezing the motor with a vise because that was the only way i could hold it in position so that I could bang the pin out. You will definitely need to already have or buy a punch to be able to get the pin out. I was afraid of damaging the motor by putting it in my vise but it didn't seem to do any harm at the end of the day...

Complete kit; more parts than you will actually use most likely. It will take you about 30-45 minutes depending on your skill and ability to remove the old gears and replace them. If you've done it before maybe a bit less time. It's pretty straight forward. If you haven't done it, use your cellphone and take pictures as you take it apart. They're handy when you put it back together. Buy with confidence.
