It is made ...as nearly all Katana under 3,000 in China...it is handmade and is good quality..however, it is made by apprentice forgers ...not master forgers..there again into the 3000 plus price range..Buying a Japanese made Katana...if that is what your looking for... online is near impossible and especially one made by a master forger..you would have to go to Japan..and then only be allowed to buy up to a class 3 of 5..so..my advice is to buy and enjoy the Murasame..yet be aware..I tried to buy their Tanto and it was held up in customs in Shanghai City..I only have the refund now..much rather had my Tanto. I have also purchased from Handmade Swords and they nice quality too...those are the 2 best names to buy off Amazon I think.
