## Description

ET 5 A digital audio cable, such as Toslink (also known as "Fiber Optic"), can easily become the single most important cable in your system since all the channels depend on this one cable to deliver undistorted sound. PipeLine Toslink ET 5 makes use of a specially chosen low distortion polymer fiber to greatly reduce the corruption of timing errors that result when the imperfections found in typical optical fiber cause a "scattering" of the light information. This leads to the optical light signal taking many different paths within each fiber, with each path having a slightly different length. This causes misinterpretation of the digital data stream and sound heard with less clarity and greater irritation. The special polymer fiber and finely polished optical interface used in PipeLine Toslink ET 5 dramatically reduces these timing errors, providing greater clarity and dynamic contrast.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ but it wasn't perfect. On top of that
*by J***J on July 18, 2015*

I use AKG K702 65th Anniversary Edition headphones. Originally, I had these plugged into my computer's onboard motherboard audio. It did the trick, but it wasn't perfect. On top of that, I also play my PS3. To listen to audio from my PS3, I had to unplug my headphones, and plug it into the monitor with the audio being pumped through the HDMI cable and out the TVs headphone port. That audio was less than stellar. My motherboard has a 3.5mm input, so I thought I would pass the audio out from the TV to the audio in on the motherboard. I tried several different cables, and these are produced a very loud and audible hiss.I caved in and purchased a Sound Blaster Z sound card (which I also gave a 5 star review. For the price, you can't go wrong over stock motherboard audio) and this cable, planning to pipe audio out of my PS3 via optical and into my sound card to let it handle it with its great DAC and amp. When I got the cable, I was surprised to see it actually came with great packaging. It wasn't just in a static-free bag like how I receive many other computer and audio component cables from Amazon. It actually had a nicely designed box that is very sturdy and durable and held the cable safely inside. But you want to know about the cable, of course, so let's get to that. I was surprised to see how gorgeous it. The braided sheath around the cable is extremely durable and tough. This cable will never get tangled, thanks to that. It's sheathing its red PVC tubing so you can see it shine through outer braided sheath a little. Or it might just be that it is a black and red sheath and my eyes are playing tricks on me. Either way, the actual cable is great to look at, and matches great with my red and black PC components. Big points for that! The connectors are very high quality plastic, durable, and painted an awesome candy apple red with the PipeLine logo on it in white. It is rounded except for a small flat bit on the opposite side of the logo. This makes it easy to plug in and remove. There is no budge or movement when I try and pull on the connectors from the cable. They will stand the test of time very well.As far as hooking it up and sound quality, the plugs went in the PS3 and the sound card with a nice click sound to let me know they are in correctly and secure. They are not loose and won't come out unless you give it a good, direct pull.Sound quality is perfect. Most cables should be as they aren't too different other than the aesthetics, but at least I can vouch for these and say that they look great, are well made, durable, and give perfect audio. No hissing or audible crackles, ever while the PS3 is on or off, whether there is audio playing or not.My only gripe is that the plugs may be a little too wide. There is an optical in and optical out on my sound card that are right next to each other. With this plug, there isn't enough room for the other optical out if you use two of these. So long as you have a standard sized 3.5mm jack, this connector will not inhibit your ability to use it, so don't worry about that. I also have no use for an optical out, yet, but if I ever want to use it for an external DAC/Amp, I may have to buy a separate smaller cable. A cheap, traditional optical cable with a smaller jack shouldn't have a problem as the connector doesn't actually block the output, its just too wide to fit a second PipeLine cable right next to it.Overall, if you like the aesthetics of the cable, get it! You won't be disappointed! I bought it at only $6 and I don't think it'll get any better than this!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ it worked just fine. Note to everyone
*by P***S on May 23, 2016*

Using this cable to connect TV optical out to my wireless headphones.First time I hooked it up, I got a strange static noise. Actually had packed them back up. Someone gave me a suggestion of something to try in relation to my audio settings on my TV, and when I re-connected it, it worked just fine.Note to everyone, there are clear plastic protectors on the ends, do not forget to take them off prior to connection. Its easy to overlook.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ surprisingly sturdy and beautiful
*by K***T on December 31, 2016*

I purchased this as a secondary cable to use with my optical audio splitter and I am very impressed. This is a cable that would sell for 30 dollars or more elsewhere. I had gone to Walmart and looked around but didn't want to spend twenty bucks for a cable that looked to be much flimsier than this one. I didn't want to spend a great deal of money because I wanted to use it with an optical audio splitter that I had ordered but had yet to arrive and I wasn't totally convinced the splitter would work. Finding this one on Amazon for such a low price I decided to go for it. I was shocked when it arrived. It was very well packaged in a molded plastic container placed inside a fitted cardboard box. The cable its self is very well constructed. The end connecters are very solid and connect with an audible click when inserted. The cable is protected by a heavy duty interwoven material that appears to be some sort of heavy nylon. I don't usually refer to cables as beautiful but this one is. Well constructed and has eye appeal. I believe it will last for years.
