    Perfect fit on DC41.

*by J***W on Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2019*

I ordered this to repair a failing (grinding sound) belt on our DC41 (third one in 7 years, we do a lot of vacuuming with multiple big dogs in a large house). I can state this absolutely fits the DC41. Getting to the belt is a bit of work, requiring complete disassembly of the rotating cleaner-head assembly. After getting all the way in there, however, I found that the support bearings had "spun" in their plastic holder, thus the pulley on the non-motor side of the belt was loose (due to missing/destroyed plastic), so no belt was going to fix it. I ended up ordering an entire new cleaner-head assembly for $99 on Amazon, and it solved the issue. Far far easier to replace the head for $99 if you're not fond of digging into the bowels of the machine.Belt does fit the DC41 however if that's what you decide you need.

Identical replacement for factory belt. Not too terrible to install.

First the belt: Identical belt as compared to my broken one off my DC-41. Stamped with the company's info since its not a factory part, but width, length, teeth, and stretch (or lack there of) is identical. Now the fun stuff, replacement: Feel the motor head on top of the brush assembly while cycling the brush button on and off to feel the motor kick on and off. If the brush isn't spinning but you can feel the brush motor running, your belt is broken.Obviously if you're here looking for a new Dyson belt, you probably aren't scared taking apart a several hundred dollar vacuum and know the difference between a Phillips and a Torx. If not, back away and find someone who does.Hints: You have to take the 2 spindle brush inserts off the motor to remove the motor from the brush housing. There's a Torx screw inside both on the outside end. Once you tear the motor down (several torx screws) disconnect the 2 wires from the motor. Make sure you mark at least one of them so you don't power the motor backwards. I found the best way to get the new belt back on was to make sure both gears are on the same side of the belt housing. (The larger gear/bearing is just compression fit inside either side of the housing so it can easily be popped out and switched.)Put the belt on the small gear first, then over the large gear (still loose in the housing). At this point, it becomes a nightmare to stretch the belt enough to seat the larger gear bearing into the housing. Put both of those spindle brush inserts back on this gear and use them as leverage behind your fingers as you stretch the larger gear into its compression fit home. Once seated, snap the other housing cover into place (don't forget that little roller ball if you have one - it just drops in on one end and then slide the small spindle in the other side).Screw everything back together, hook up the wires and reassemble. I used a plastic orange peeler to push the motor wires back into the crevices on the plastic housing where I pulled them out from. Saved $$$ doing in myself and got to clean the entire brush head while it was apart too.

    Dyson won't sell you one

*by J***J on Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2017*

I took my DC41 power head apart because it stopped spinning and found a broken belt inside. I contacted Dyson to order a replacement. I gave them the number off the belt. The Dyson customer service rep insisted their is no belt in the power head, but I can buy a new power head for $109!Search around and found this on Amazon. Replaced it -- Perfect fit. Vacuum works great now.If you're not mechanically inclined, you might want to take a few pics as you disassemble because removing the motor and mounts and all the screws is a bit challenging.
