Worth a purchase
I recently installed the Xpelair C4TSR Extractor Fan with Timer in my bathroom, and I’ve been really impressed with its performance so far. This fan is part of Xpelair’s Simply Silent range, and it definitely lives up to the name—it’s incredibly quiet, even on the higher speed setting. The Ghost Air Movement technology they use really makes a difference; you barely notice it’s running, which is a huge upgrade from my old, noisy fan. Installation was straightforward, thanks to the Twist & Click fascia design. I managed to fit it into the ceiling without too much hassle. It comes with both square and round baffle covers, which is a nice touch—I went with the round one to match my bathroom’s look, but it’s great to have the option. The adjustable timer is another standout feature. I set it to run for about 15 minutes after a shower, and it clears out steam and humidity like a champ. You can tweak it anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes, so it’s super flexible depending on your needs. The fan has two speed settings (15 or 21 l/s), which you choose during installation. I opted for the higher one since my bathroom gets pretty steamy, and it handles the job well with an extraction rate of 54-76 m³/hr. It’s powerful enough to keep condensation at bay, yet it stays quiet—maxing out at 29 dB, which is barely noticeable. Plus, it’s energy-efficient, using just 6.3-7 watts, so I don’t feel guilty letting it run a bit longer. A couple of minor gripes: the instructions could be clearer, especially for setting the timer and speed. I had to double-check online to make sure I got it right. Also, while it’s great for general bathroom use, it might not be the absolute best for super high-humidity spaces with no windows—though that’s more about my setup than the fan itself. Overall, the Xpelair C4TSR is a stylish, quiet, and effective extractor fan that’s perfect for most bathrooms. The 2-year guarantee gives me peace of mind, and it looks sleek in white. If you’re after a reliable, near-silent fan that’s easy to install and does the job, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a try!

Replacement for a poorly sucking unit.
It was easy to replace my original unit with this one. I had to extend the wiring as the connection was in a different place to the first unit. There is a horizontal line that you need to be aware of, fitting the unit with this in mind enables the back flaps to operate properly. I did originally try to fit it rotated so that the wiring fitted, but not only did the back flaps hang open, the outer cover (with name) was at an angle! Being a little OCD that would have annoyed me! I bought the timer version, it needs two power sources, One from the light source and the other from the fan isolation switch. It will stay on for about 30 minutes (Time is adjustable) once the light is turned off. The unit has a 2 speed jumper adjustment, I have mine set to high. It isn't silent but not extremely loud either! The unit comes with 2 covers, square or round, I used the round one, It feels a little fragile the first time I twisted it to remove the cover, but after a couple of fitments it hasn't broke, so must be fit for purpose. I am happy with this purchase, it is definitely better than the unit that came with the house (New build!).

Excellent but bathroom quite misty on default setting
Very quiet and nice looking. But extraction of vapour is poor on default low setting in the bathroom. I will change setting to high and hope it extracts vapour from shower better.

Failed in less than 4 weeks! Don’t waste your money.
Fan was fitted by a certified electrician and within 4 weeks (2 weeks of which I was away on holiday) was no longer ‘Simply Silent’!! It was making a terrible noise, the only thing noisier was my wife moaning about it. Contacted the seller and they advised sending it back but it no fault was found they would send it back but with a charge of £25. Alarm bells started to ring! The fact is the fan is faulty, it seems the blade is hitting on the side of the housing, it is noticeable that the blade is loose. This fan replaced an old extractor fan of the same size so in no way is the hole too small and distorting the casing. The quality just seems to be lacking in the product, as is customer service. Due to my disability I cannot change the fan myself so by the time I have paid the electrical twice to remove and replace it would be more economical to buy a new fan and pay electrician once especially when I have my suspicions the seller will charge me the re-delivery fee. For around the same price this fan is available at screwfix, at least then if there is a problem you can speak to someone face to face and you can witness them seeing the fault first hand.

Very quiet, great design
Editing my review because I realised after purchasing 4 of these, the shutters would not open on any of them! If you push with a screwdriver from inside, you can test this! The ducting was obstructing them from behind as there is no leeway plastic to ensure freedom of shutter movement. I was basically extracting against closed shutters. I have had to make improvised collars today with plastic from bottles that fits around the fan but also permits the ducting to sit on the fan as well. It has been a nightmare but testing with a scredriver again today I have successfully fixed this. If you are a returning customer, test your old ones ASAP! If a new customer, ensure you have a plan to mitigate potebtial ducting obstructing the fan shutters. These are good fans with an unfortunate flaw! Original review: Nice product, nice look to it, really glad it has a self closing flap on the back as well, to stop back draughts. Bought 2 to replace old fans I could see outside through them. Also updated outside cowels to covered/flap style and stops ridiculous heat loss experienced before. Product isn't flush to wall and has 3 screw holes so had to patch up previous fans square holes and wallpaper afterwards, worth the change over for extra insulation and warmth in winter.
