Turns your back into Hepa
I use this material on my vacuum cleaner, to make it into a heap or close to heap Vac. I wrap the factor filter with one wrap and adhere it using rubber bands. It does not interfere with performance on either of my vacs including shark, and works so well the factory filter doesn't need cleaning after use and eliminates vacuum exhausting allergens. Great stuff. Its so inexpensive, I do not reuse it.

Since I can’t find the 3M sheets anymore…..
I decided to try this on my oscillating tower fan in the bedroom. I just opened up the sheet cut it to size and tape it to the back of the fan and it works just fine.

Good but Falls Short on Practical Use
Good but Falls Short on Practical Use I tried this MERV 13 filter material hoping to save money by cutting it to size for various vents around the house. The roll itself is generous—16 square feet—and the material feels sturdy, with enough density that you can tell it should trap fine dust and pet dander effectively. When freshly cut and installed, it does seem to capture a fair amount of debris, so performance-wise it’s doing what it claims. Where this product misses the mark for me is in usability. Cutting it down to fit different vent covers was more tedious than expected, and getting clean edges that sit flush without gaps was tricky. Unlike pre-cut filters with a firm frame, this fabric tends to bow or wrinkle once in place. In one vent it worked fine, but in another it kept slipping out after a few days. I also noticed it restricted airflow more than standard filters, making my HVAC system run louder and harder. That raises concerns about long-term strain on the system. Bottom line: The filtration ability is good, but the lack of rigidity and the hassle of cutting/installing makes this more trouble than it’s worth. If you’re handy and want to customize filters for non-standard vents, this might work. For most people, framed pre-cut filters will be a lot easier and safer for your HVAC system.

Alternative to hepa filter
I bought this material to filter air in my residence as an alternative to a hepa filter. The popular hack is to use a furnace filter attached to a box fan. This product is cheaper and can be cut to a variety of sizes, which I have done for a small personal evaporative cooler. The filtration rating on these higher rated furnace is not as high as a hepa filter, but it’s still very good.

When I ordered the 16 square foot piece of filter I did not realize how thin it was. I cut it easily to fit behind the existing filter. Within hours it was easier to breath but within days it was same old thing. There were no care instructions. So it appears I need to wash the filter weekly to get the desired effect.

A filter fabric should not produce more particles than what it's designed to catch. After about a month of use, I realized that the material is shedding microfibers. Their claims: - MIRV 13? NO! It is too thin! I'd like to see independent lab testing evidence that proves it's MIRV 13 - even with electrostatic charging, it's still unlikely to be more than MIRV 8. - Good for masks? Absolutely NOT! It sheds microfibers and this will pose a serious health risk if you breathe in these microfibers. I attached a side-view photo. The fibers "stick" to everything so it naturally pulls away. For a disposable air filter material, there is much better and safer material available. Thank goodness for Amazon's great return policy.
