This model NODE-100 is not compatible with solar. If you are looking solar compatible then go with NODE-BT. I will update review after some time of work. It's in the desert below ground level. Installation is easy, even didn't check manual yet, maybe later for additional features, right now it's in test mode. Looks durable, covered by rubber. Connectivity is fully done, you don't need to do anything except install batteries.
