They were stiff out of the box but felt comfortable and like they were already molding to my feet when I put them on the next day. The wheels are great for indoor and outdoor skating as well. I'm a beginner adult skater and I've practiced at home on carpet and at a rink. If you don't want to break the bank and you want a skate with good ankle support and style, I'd recommend these. They don't have a lot of inside padding, but I don't feel like it's something that I need.
