I read previous reviews where ladies complained about a small hole under the handle and if put in the dishwasher it fills with water. I believe that the hole is there due to expansion when the bowl is heated so it needs to be there. I usually just wash the bowls by hand without immersing them into the water. If they need to soak, just put hot water in them and set aside until you wash them. I thought these would be good for an ice cream dish, however I'd be packing on the pounds if I used this! I do eat cereal out of them. It's a good healthy adult sized serving of cereal though! They look nice, and are very sturdy. Also, oven safe up to 350 only.
