Features such as the 9/64 inch, anti-twist cable, long cords, hand-held control, and powerful, yet safe, motor ensure the safety of operators and add convenience to your lifting experience. The powerful, 1 ¼ HP motor has a built-in thermal protection to prevent overheating, but also has a 10-minute duty cycle and its gears are constructed of 45-lb. steel for amazing strength that you can count on. In addition, the motor has a metal cover that protects the motor. This Electric Hoist has a compact design and weighs only 37 lbs so that you can take it to where the job is. The dual capacities make this hoist even more versatile as this hoist can be fitted with a double line to increase the weight capacity. With a single line the capacity of this unit is 440 lbs, but a double line gives this unit a greater capacity of 880 lbs! The 39 ft cable, that lifts to 36 ft (single line) and 18 ft (double line), is long and durable enough to aid you with a wide variety of lifting tasks. The hand-held control even has a long cord of 5 ft long to ensure that the operator is a safe distance from the lifting process. While the hoist does require power to operate, it holds the load, wherever the load may be, without needing power, adding yet another safety feature to this Electric Hoist. Other safety features include the brake, to stop loads suddenly, and the height limit switch. The universal mount with the included brackets allows the user to easily mount this system in a variety of different places, so you can use it wherever the job is. Damage on receipt
Box was damaged and parts were missing. The box arrived re-taped and looked as if it had been opened and re-taped. The winch was scratched and washers required for installation were missing.

Serious safety concerns
This item was delivered quickly. It's powerful but a bit noisy. I like the white finish vs. very similar orange ones sold by others vendors.What I don't like is the disorganized way the cable spools from reel. The steel cable has memory and wants to be straight, so unless you keep constant tension on it, it coils away from the reel like a spring. This causes two problems. The first is an annoyance. The second is seriously dangerous.The annoyance is that, when the hoist is operating, the cable wraps/unwraps in a random pattern that makes the motion herky-jerky as the cable slips off high points into adjacent low points.The danger comes when lowering with little or no weight. The unwinding cable will create a rats nest that can bind causing the cable to continue wrapping around the spool rather than feeding out. When this happens, the LOWERING command on the control is actually RAISING the cable!To prevent self-destruction, the black round stop near the cable hook is designed to strike the metal gate and trigger a kill switch. Unfortunately, this switch is designed to halt only clockwise (raising) motion. If you get a reverse-wrapping condition, the machine thinks it's lowering even though the cable is rising. The kill switch will fail to do its job.I narrowly avoided a major disaster and had to disassemble the mechanism to free the cable bind.If you need a hoist and are very vigilant when using it, this does work.However, in my opinion, it needs a more sophisticated spooling mechanism and foolproof kill switch to be safe.
