I love this book
This book has been such a blessing in my life. Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones (MLJ) is so thorough, logical, and insightful it is hard to find anything to say other than “Thank you Lord for MLJ.”Some of the things I like best are as follows:1. He is always very clear and careful about what he says.2. He gives the different positions that godly men have God have taken on a doctrine. He will give you what he thinks is the correct position but then he tells you to look into the matter for yourself.3. When godly men hold alternative (but possible) positions on a doctrine and they’ve written a book on their position, MLJ will give you the name of the book to read.4. MLJ calls godly people that hold alternate, but possible doctrinal beliefs “Friends”. It has become almost impossible to find people that can disagree on certain issues without someone being called a heretic, or an unbeliever, or some other name. It’s so refreshing to hear someone of MLJ’s stature calling them ‘friends’.5. His is the best teaching on end time doctrines I ever read and they’re the only ones that make sense of certain parts of Revelation.Scripture says, “The Lord makes peace in your borders and fills you with the finest wheat.” (Psalm 147:14) I think that Martyn Lloyd-Jones is some of that very fine wheat which the Lord gives to feed His servants.

Better Than Grudem
IMHO this book is more accessible and informative than Grudem’s Systematic Theology. Dr. Lloyd-Jones’ theology is “logic on fire”—easy to follow and filled with striking observations that stick in one’s mind. Volume III on last things helped me grasp for the first time in my life at age 67 the Bible’s actual teaching on the end times. I strongly recommend this book as well as the MLJ Trust which is making the good doctor’s sermons digitally restored and available for free to the world on the MLJ Trust app. Well done!

Should be required reading for every believer!
This is hands-down the BEST book I've ever ready, outside of the actual Bible!Such a great foundation of doctrinal truth put in a way that comes alive and is so well backed by scriptural reference.

Anchor of faith
I started reading MLJ in 1981. Since then I thought I had bought and read every book that had come out of MLJ's ministry but I was wrong. Somehow I missed this tome, and like all MLJ's books, is a treasure. Although it has been described as a book on systematic theology (there were actually 3 books), it reads like a Bible Study, which is exactly what it was. I thought only MLJ's pulpit sermons were published, but from what I read in the introductory chapter. this book grew out of Friday night bible studies that MLJ conducted in a hall in Westminster Chapel but then moved to the Chapel itself, from whence he preached his sermons on Romans. I've have read the first 2 chapters, and it is typical MLJ - except that he wasn't doing a verse by verse exposition. It is more topical and, as always, bible-based through and through. If you are looking for discussion of philosophers through the ages, you would do better elsewhere. I have had my share of reading those but I have ever and always learnt more from the Doctor over the years. This is a great book to read and to ponder. You feel that firm anchor whenever you read him, and this is no exception here. The book looks good on your shelf too though I don't think the Doctor would approve if that is all you are going to do with it.

Great book concerning Biblical doctrine
I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in learning more about the key doctrines of the Bible. Mr. Lloyd-Jones does a wonderful job working through each doctrine and tying them neatly together. I appreciate the fact that the author often shares the fact that some things are inexplicable, but does his best to help the reader come to a point of understanding. This book has definitely helped me to better understand the Word of God and has been a blessing to read.If you are looking for "Cliff Notes" type of overviews of doctrine, this is not the book for you. Mr. Lloyd-Jones is meticulous in his detail and often works things out and then revisits them again for good measure. This book is not a short read by any stretch of the imagination.I would also recommend Mr. Lloyd-Jones' book covering the Sermon on the Mount. It is perhaps the most eye-opening book that I have read concerning the teachings of Jesus Christ and will leave you with much more understanding and spiritual growth than when you started.

One of my favorite 20th century Non-Presbyterians
There's a reason why DM Loyd-Jones is still one of the most popular pastors of the 20th century; his frank, honest, balanced, and pastoral approach makes for some great doctrinal reading that's easily practical. I have yet to read anything from his credit that isn't both helpful and engaging, nor do I expect to.
