What size would be best for a 7-7.5 Yorkie male?! I don’t want it to be too tight not too loose around his growing.

This was my experience… if you click on each color size sweater, in the top photo product images, one of the slides displays a size chart you measure your dog’s neck circumference, largest location around rib cage chest circumference, and finally length you should measure from base of the dog’s neck at body to base of dog’s tail. Here is the catch: if you scroll thru each COLOR sweater, the pic size chart values for measurements listed to determine fit of neck, chest, length … CHANGE! Then also, if you choose a color and a size item, make sure to scroll down and read carefully through the description info for that color and size you picked from upper drop down boxes… because AGAIN, IN THE ITEM TYPED DESCRIPTIONS, THE WRITTEN OUT SIZE MEASUREMENTS INFO CHANGES.. you will find anywhere between 2-3, easily, different definitions of what this product states as the neck, chest, length you should measure your dog and compare to…. That said, my dog is a (depending on how spoiled lately haha) 12.8-13.1 lb definite chihuahua/dachshund mix… obviously as a rescue, who knows what millions of breed genetics in thr background. I bought the purple sweater for her in size “S”… again the multiple sizing charts from product images, then size chart, then images in description, snd also typed out definitions of this product.. the fact there were also some colors and measurement charts for a size “S/M” had me ridiculously baffled. According to most many size chart info, my dog should have landed at “S/M” instead. However reading the tons of reviews and questions, I saw what type breed dogs S/M size was fitting on… and despite the charts said S/M and sizing up suggestions, knowing Amazon is amazing with return and exchanges, I’d easily be able to return for another size if it didn’t fit. Again color purple sweater has different size chart info that other colors…. And according to color “purple sweater” chart, size “S” should be too small for her. My dog is 12” neck, 15” body length, 17” largest rib cage chest. She is narrow build from her chihuahua genetics, and slightly long given her wiener dog dachshund genetics lol “Purple” sweater Size “S” fits her perfect. According to the sizing info all over this product page provided, “S” should be too small, and depending on which color ane chart changes, she should be in “S/M” or “M” There is NO way a sweater size larger than the supposedly too small size S chart info compared to my dog would fit her. Read everything you can, don’t go by weights, read all questions and replies and reviews ppl leave on products, so you get a sense of how a product fits. And my final piece of advice with a dog that is as small as you mention, I have found that finding products that specifically state for small dog and toy dogs etc vs just “dog coats”, fit and come in sizes more likely have the best cut and success for smaller breeds. I’d take a photo, but my dog is currently curled up asleep in this sweater. If it will let me. I’ll follow up and add a review with photos to share about the fit… and she does love this sweater

Will my Yorkie still be able to go potty with the sweater on?

If you get the right size the sweater rides high enough for that.

Why don't they make sweaters and coats for shorter dogs. To fit around chest is way too long underheath for male dogs

The one I got for my dachsador Fits good around the chest but her legs are so short it hangs so she can’t wear it I agree they need to make them where they fit dogs or short legs

I'm thinking maybe a large for a slender 46 lb. standard poodle??

If you go to the page where these sweaters are advertised and scroll down you’ll come to a size chart. It doesn’t go by weight, but rather by neck girth, chest girth, and body length. The girth measurements should account for the weight. I’ve purchased four of these sweaters for my dog and they’re well made and don’t make him itch like other sweaters I’ve purchased.

Warm, great fit

It stretches and is very comfortable for your pet. It was a bit too long for mine, but perfect around neck and belly, so I just made a tuck (and sewed) and done! I could see it was warm bc from curling up in a tight ball, after putting on the sweater, she would stretch out to her usual sleeping position. Recommend.

Brown is dark golden not light tan

The materials seem like good quality and the knit design looks great. The small fits my 9lb chihuahua snug but comfortable. I haven’t washed it so not sure if it will shrink. The brown appeared like more of a tan shade but the product I received was a deeper golden/orange brown. Overall it will work just not exact color match as advertised.

Perfect fit for my Pitt

LOVE the color (it's a little brighter in person) - it appears to be well made and Bella has not tried to take it off like she did with the other sweater I ordered from a different company. My house hippo is 50 lbs with a wide neck and chest which makes it difficult to find a sweater to fit - until now. It is streatchy - but not too much and doesn't bind her when she lays down. Definitely will be purchasing different colors - great value for the $

nice sweater

Ive been hit and miss on dog sweaters for my 6 pound Maltipoo. Some XS were too small, and S too big.This cute turtleneck is perfect in a small for him. Knit is not loose so he can pull at it and the leg openings are just right for movement, he's not constricted in any way .Also the cutaway underneath is perfect and does not "bag". We're happy. Ill order from this store again.

Runs Large

Sweaters are very nice, thick and warm. I ordered according to the size chart for my 17lb king cavalier. I put it on him, and it was so big. They are also extra-long down the back. Definitely measure before you purchase or know the correct size. I have decided to return the one I originally purchased and will be ordering a smaller size.
