Alien Gear ShapeShift IWB Appendix Carry Holster - Custom Fit for Discreet Carry - Right or Left Hand, Modular System Options, Best Appendix Holster for Every Day Carry

I got a paddle holster for my Shield previously and had been in the market for an Appendix holster for a while now. I heard good things about the Alien Gear ShapeShift so I decided to give it a go. I ordered the item on a Monday and had it in my hands by end of business Wednesday (USPS shipping - super fast). Anyway, my pistol fit perfectly into the shell with a satisfying "shick" sound. The retention is fully adjustable with a twist of a screw, so you are able to set the desired amount with minimal effort. A previous review mentioned that there was some bulk to the holster. It is true that it is a bit thicker than some of the other kydex holsters out there. After one evening of wearing the holster in the appendix position, I realized that this setup suited me far better by moving the holster clockwise from 12:30 to 1:30. My 1911 positions itself better closer to 12:30, so I had a preconception of where I should be placing the gun. After I made the move that there was far less printing - so my advice to anyone getting a new holster is to try repositioning slightly. Overall the holster seems quite sturdy and of good quality. It's comfortable to wear, makes my weapon easily accessible and is safe. I would recommend this holster to anyone looking for a good AIWB option.

This holster is extremely comfortable, fits my glock 19x gen 5 perfect. Don't believe the shipping time, I got it way faster. A+

I have warn it two days I have a glock 22 40cal. 15 round mag. So not a small gun. I tried 11 12 and 1 o'clock. It is a bit ugly on the belt the way it sits but my other holster hurt to sit this didn't bother me at all I'm 6'2 220 was very comfortable didn't make me walk funny except at 11 o'clock kinda cross draw but I was wereing an untukit thin white dress shirt couldn't see it at all and sat in my car comfortable was able to sit bend over put shoes on. It is lose on gun haven't adjusted tension yet . But the only other holster that was more comfortable is the Houston appendix. And is saft shell so little harder to reholster . Love alien gear make quality stuff . Wish it carried mag and fit my light but not really a big deal.

Nice. High quality holster at a great price

I've tried a ton of different AIWB holsters and this is the first one I've found that truly comfortable to wear on a regular basis. The sweat shield offers nice padding from the hard Kydex, the retention adjustment is really easy to manage, and the fact that the trigger guard wraps all the way around is a big improvement from the older Cloak Tuck line.

I’m a cop, and have carried various guns in various holsters for nearly 20 years, both on and off duty. After all the reviews, I was VERY disappointed with the Alien Gear Shapeshift.- overly complicated while at the same time feeling cheap and flimsy.- no way to adjust retention, at least not that I could figure out from the instructions.- WAY too much unnecessary plastic for realistic concealed carry, at least a 1/2” thicker than every other concealed carry holster I’ve used.- It’s like Alien Gear set out to try and find many ways to do one thing poorly, rather than coming up with one tool to do well the one job it was designed for.- AND, when I went to return it, unlike 99% of the other vendors on Amazon, they made me pay my own shipping to send back this substandard, overly-engineered yet under-designed thing that feels like it was molded from cheap model airplane plastic!Very disappointed.

I recently purchased the Alien Gear ShapeShift Appendix Carry Holster, customized to hold a Beretta 92 FS. I own an older-model Taurus PT 92 AFS, and I can confirm that the Taurus fits perfectly into this holster. (Note: I’ve read that any Beretta or Taurus model with a rail will not fit this holster.)The holster arrived fully assembled, which was convenient and saved me time. The retention is impressive; I tested it by holding the holster upside down, and the pistol remained securely in place.However, I won’t be using this holster to conceal my Taurus for the following reasons:Printing Issues: My full-size gun prints way too much. I’ve tried wearing it in the appendix, hip, and buttocks positions without success. (NOTE: I'm a slim guy, 5'10, 170 lbs., with a slight "too-many-carbs" belly).Comfort Concerns: Appendix carry is too uncomfortable when seated. It is acceptably comfortable when standing and walking.Ride-Height Problem: The ride-height is too low and is not adjustable. As a result, the pistol sits too low in my pants, making it unnaturally difficult to draw my weapon.While the holster has some great features, these drawbacks make it unsuitable for my needs. I hope this review helps others in making an informed decision.

First and foremost this thing is fantastic, I can wear this all day without any issues or discomfort I have a lot of movement and it doesn’t cut into my leg or my gut (for those of us with a beer belly). I have read the reviews and I agree it rides high and it is much bulkier than other holsters I have tried, but what I like more than anything is the thumb release and the adjustable retention. It makes me feel much safer when I take this running or to a workout and with the neoprene backing it’s moisture wicking and comfortable. The holster as a whole feels solid and with the thumb retention you have the extra added safety of it staying in place, but the placement gives you an extremely easy release when you get your draw reps in and are used to it. Fantastic product 5 out of 5 would buy again no question.
