Q: What is the difference between this model and the negative ground one?

Thank you for the question! The negative 20a Voyager is an older model that will not have an activation mode for Li batteries. The new version both PG and NG will be able to activate Li batteries. Thank you, M.S.

Q: will this work with a 30v 200watt panel because its only rated for 24v?

You should be okay using it with the 30 volts, 200 watt panel. The charge controller specifications of PV Input Voltage Range: 15V-55V and Max. PV Power: 260W (12V) / 520W (24V) are rated higher than the panel.

I had previously purchased solar panel controllers that were supposedly compatible with my 12.8v Deep Cycle Lithium Battery. Neither of them worked, though they had instructions on how to set them up for lithium. I saw this Renogy Controller and purchased it. The set up was as simple as the video shows and it works incredibly. We camped for 3 days with a small refrigerator running off the battery in 85-90 degree heat. When we were breaking camp the battery showed full charge. We did have full sun for the 3 days to power the solar panels but the point being, IT WORKED AS ADVERTISED!Thanks Renogy for a great product.
