These dates are better than just about any other date you can find on the west coast. Large, soft , perfectly sweet , melt in your mouth. Amazing.

I really like Medjool dates but Del Real Medjool dates are an obsession. I've only ever seen them at Whole Foods and only for a limited time. So this marks two years in a row when I've found them, around October I think. They are like eating a spoonful of caramel with little bits of crystallized sugar. Kid you not. But they're the same nutritional info as regular medjools and I think it's just that the supply chain to get them here is so much shorter that they are that much fresher. I don't know what it is but I look forward to fall and a big reason is Del Real. (Look, I made a rhyme!)

medjool is the king of dates in my book. these are a sealed, branded product for essentially the same cost as the bulk option. like i mentioned these are branded and grown in indio, ca or possibly arizona, i forget. don't know if they are organic. i did find them to be moist and very good. they do have a date on the pkg as i recall, so you can get a gauge on the freshness. dates keep well, obviously, so that is relative, but these were not dried out from ages on the shelf, which was my concern when ordering.
