Sea To Summit - Pocket Trowel Nylon, No Color

I bought this for a wild camp with my son who is 7. I assumed it would be a folding mechanism, but actually it's one where you press in a little metal button and slide the handle down until the button locates in a hole. This is absolutely fine for me, but a little fiddly for my son as it requires a bit more strength than his fingers can apply. It works well in soft ground, but struggles a little on stonier fare because the business end is plastic and therefore slightly blunted rather than sharp. Otherwise it's a good piece of kit.

Unfortunately I can’t send this back as my husband threw away the packaging. This is a terrible product. The handle does not stay in place when digging a hole and I cut my hand when it slipped. In addition trying to get the top lid open so you can fit loo roll inside is neatly impossible. I had to go into YouTube to figure out how to get it open and they said “use brut force!). I finally got it open and added 12 compression towels, but now they are stuck inside and I can’t get them out.I really had high hopes for this product but it’s one for the “do not use” pile.

Get the turf cut, cat scratch and do the doo.Lightweight and compact to fit in any dobie bag, A must have for the conscientious outdoor enthusiast. Even has space in the handle for poo bags or tissues. Nice and solid and the mud will clean off easily.Many of our upland water sources are now polluted with fecal matter so learning how to dispose or transport out our feaces is VITAL.

This is light-weight and could do the job of digging a hole. But... the metal spring/catch, sprung off on first use and is very fiddly indeed to re-seat. Despite the implied description, the handle is not really long enough to store rolled-up toilet tissue, unless you use just a very small amount the grey plastic caps cut down the useable length quite considerably. Oh, and as others have said, removing said cap is a real trial, not something I'd like to do with cold fingers.

Junk - used half a dozen times and the metal retaining stud has popped out. No way to put it back in so complete waste of money.

Strong, sturdy, lightweight, easy to clean, won’t rust, great tool.

A bit pricey and heavier and more fiddly than the £2.50 LifeVenture plastic spade but compact enough for a pocket.
