DVD ROM Review: Great forray into the world of collaborative multiplayer in a trek universe with surprisingly few trolls! - In this multiplayer game, you take the a position on a star ship and have to work with the rest of the crew to accomplish your mission goal. Some missions are dull. Others are fairly exciting. As a starting point, it's very good, albiet a touch basic. The very great thing is that the internet trolls don't appear to be out in force on this one, which is really surprising for a game which needs such close collaboration. Some people are better at being captain than others, but as a multiplayer experience, people seem willing to share out the responsibilities. A perk of the game i didn't realise we were getting was the original enterprise bridge and all it's 60's low tech glory (gone are the nice guis and replaced with a "wine gum" button interface!) I can only imagine this game is leaving itself open for future improvement. I would imagine they can release add on packs which feature additional bridges and missions and added complexity in the form of directional shielding, greater control over the sub systems and a little more for the captain to do! It's great fun. incredibly immersive and it's star trek. What's not to like!
