I grow orchids out-of-doors in the summer and under lights in the winter. Getting rid of insect pests is a major concern when my babies come indoors. Mulch maggots chew on orchid roots and spawn pesty little gnats. This product contains Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis spores (see the article at [...]). In water, the bacteria emerge and feast on larvae of mosquitoes, fungus gnats, and blackflies. This bacterium doesn't attack other species, according to what I've read. You can spread this on any stagnant water that may be a breeding ground for mosquitoes. I put 1/8 tsp in a gallon of water and let sit overnight before watering my orchids. The fungus gnats disappear within a few weeks of this treatment, as measured by accumulations on fly-paper. For my purposes, this is a very cost-effective and non-toxic pesticide.

These packets dissolve in water quickly and efficiently, helping keep the larvae down in standing water or small pond.

I use these in my turtle ponds with great results. I use them so as not to increase the problem in the neighborhood of creating more mosquitoes.

Had to puncture pouches

Have standing water in a culvert by my gates. Tried this and it appears to have done the trick. Been about a week and sure seems to be far less mosquitoes.
