And boy what an install. First if you can find your rafters easily, you get 40 points. Then if you can get every screw in without trouble you get 10 more points. If you managed to get this looking straight without having to measure a thousand time 20 points. It is very sturdy as hanging, but it does sway side to side. We are thinking of putting bars slanted going from bottom of one side to top of the other. Maybe that will help. The one thing that irked me was that at least one screw at every step seemed to be not fully threaded right. I would have a hard time with one screw at each step of putting the shelf itself and hooking it to the bars. That was annoying. The blots were simple but the pre-threaded openings were a pain. This is function perfectly for story items in the garage, we have one at one wall and another will go on the opposite wall. Wahoo no more junk on the floor. Oh and hubby wants to mention, if you place this right up against the wall, it may be tough getting the shelf on as you need a little room to hold it all still. The Door rail stops and faids out.** A: The entire photo is computer generated. That is not photoshop, it's an area install example. I mounted my rack to 2x4s on the two sides. It simplified fastening it to the joists in the garage ceiling. It also served to stiffen the unit. Holds the weight. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great storage solution *by S***O on June 23, 2026* This is a great storage solution. I have to admit that I was a little skeptical when they arrived. The boxes were lighter than I expected them to be. After opening up the box and laying everything out I was very skeptical. Everything seemed a little too light to me, not heavy duty enough. But I pushed on. The hardest part for me was locating the joists. My garage is drywalled and my ceiling is 10 feet tall. Between using a stud sensor and then the tried and true method of hammering little nails through the drywall locating the center and each edge of the joists. I wanted to put the lag bolts dead center in the joists. My joists ran perpendicularly to the racks. After I got the ceiling brackets up the rest was fairly easy. I assembled the racks into 2 pieces, not 1. I was working alone. I was able to get one section up and installed. Once the first section was up the rest was easy. After I got them installed, yes, they are a little on the light side but they are heavy duty enough for the job. They are light but well engineered, well designed. I swung from one of the brackets for a test. I weigh around 210 pounds. There is nothing to stop swaying from side to side. I installed this rack 2” off of a wall. I will mount (2) 8 foot 2X4’s between the racks and the drywall to stabilize it. I was able to complete this in about a day working alone. I’m 67 and I take a lot of breaks lol. Really it took about 3 hours per section. 2 each 4X8 sections. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase.
