Unfortunately I had to read through many reviews before I noticed someone else mentioning the black sticky residue which transfers onto my iron. I didn't realise this was happening until I saw it transferring back onto my fabric. Used on low heat and still occurred. Disappointing as the mat works brilliantly in giving crisp lines but not worth ruining my iron.

This pressing mat is high quality and will really help when ironing quilt projects.

I like this wool ironing mat. Ideal size for next to my sewing machine, and is heat resistant. It is small enough to take to quilting classes. This and my new rotating cutting mat have replaced the ironing mat/cutting mat combo tool. Not as bulky to travel with, and fits into my bag with no problem. Definitely functional.

I use this almost daily. So much easier than dragging out the iron.

This works fabulously. I bought it for a quilt retreat, but am still using it at home on my ironing board. Because it is harder than the ironing board, I can iron on a cooler setting and the seams are crisp. Yes, when I first put the iron on it, there was a residue that stuck to the iron (which easily ironed off on another piece of scrap fabric) so I put some ironing cloth over the surface and ironed it til it was gone. The fabric that I used for that, I could easily scrape off the residue once the fabric was cooled. A friend who used it at the retreat is going to buy one for herself. I would recommend it for quilters.
