Are any of its strange ingredients steroidal?

No. The product is void of steroidal compounds. The FDA is very strict and we're only permitted to put the most common chemical/compound name on on the drug panel. Here's a better breakdown of the ingredients: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (sweet almond) oil Persea Gratissima (avocado) oil Behentrimonium Methosulfate (a quaternary ammonium compound used in conditioners, shampoos, and lotions to impart a slippery feel to the product) Cetyl Alcohol (a waxy white solid that originally came from whale oil - now made from plants - serves as a thickening agent and emulsifier, to help keep product ingredients from separating) Glycerin (a colorless and odorless liquid that comes from plant sources that has the property of attracting water to itself [a humectant]) Cocos Nucifera (coconut) oil Ricinus Communis (castor) oil Stearyl Alcohol (used to help soften the skin and hair and to thicken and stabilize lotion products - fatty alcohols including, among others, cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol are beneficial for dry skin) Beeswax (a natural wax produced by honey bees of the genus Apis - wax is formed into scales by eight wax-producing glands in the abdominal segments of worker bees - chemically, beeswax consists mainly of esters of fatty acids and various long-chain alcohols) Shea Butter (fat that comes from the shea tree) Mango Seed Butter (fat that comes from the seeds contained inside the pits of the mango fruit) Phenoxyethanol (a widely used synthetic preservative obtained from natural sources) Caprylyl Glycol (a plant derived humectant and skin conditioning agent that lends moisturization, emollience and wetting properties to many cosmetic solutions) Tocopherol (vitamin E) Hydroxyethylcellulose (a gelling and thickening agent derived from plant cellulose)

Is this a good alternative to the zinc soap if i find it too drying on the face?

Yes and no. The FDA allows 0.25% Pyrithione Zinc in leave-on products. That's 1/8th the amount of Pyrithione Zinc that is in our 2% soap. The soap is applied, stays in contact with the skin for a minute or two and then washed away. The cream stays on your skin. The soap, at 2%, is much stronger and works faster. The cream also works, but, takes longer to get results (why I said no). Roughly 4 in 5 use the cream with the soap in a combination therapy. One in five use the cream as a monotherapy. If you cannot tolerate the soap then using the cream by itself should get the desired results. As an aside, we have zinc shampoo bars that are made with sodium cocoyl isethionate (SCI) - a sodium salt ester, or a fatty acid derived from coconut oil. These bars are milder than the natural soap. SCI is healthy and safe. This might be worth a try in a combined therapy.

It has never been out of stock. Occasionally, FBA will run out of stock in some locations - in this case order the non-FBA product. The cost is the same.
