SweetGourmet Assorted Dutch Licorice Laces | Bulk Candy | 1 Pound

I LOVE these laces! Like so many I have so much nostalgia for this candy. When I was a kid and we went to the movies, Mom was frugal. Matinees only and she would bring her big purse with brown paper bags of popcorn-maker popcorn (the 80s before microwaves were a common household item) and cans of soda from home. But because you have to have candy too, she would stop off at a gas station and we could each pick out one. If the store had em, I would always get that skinny cellophane package with the generic red and yellow paper top label of red laces 🥰 For whatever reason, they seemed to fall out of favor and/or just became hard to find, at least in my neck of the woods, so I kind of forgot about them. Then in early 2000’s my folks got a lake house (thanks to Mom’s frugality (thanks Mom!)) and just outside the community was this independently owned combination bait and tackle/pizza/gas station. And wouldn’t you know?! They had an entire aisle of those generic candies in red and yellow skinny cellophane bags! Every time I went out to the lake, coming and going, I would stop in that gas station and clear them out! Keep in mind this was before Amazon so we had to do things like that. So onto my review. For this product, the reviews seem very mixed. And I obviously can’t contest that somebody received a bad product, but it seems that there are definitely two camps. Me, I like mine snappy and chewy (some may call stale lol) Others prefer theirs softer, hence why I’m here. If you like snappy and chewy (plus a really good fruity flavor) then I highly recommend these! If you like laces that are softer and an easier chew, these may not be the ones for you. And while I don’t remember ever using RLL for any project or crafting, these would probably be a good choice because they hold together so well. Hence a snap 🫰

i was very disappointed With my purchase. The laces are thick and gummy and cut into small pieces. Without much flavor. This is my second purchase of these laces. The first time the laces were thin, long and tasty. Probably won't take the chance of ordering these again. I may ask for my money back.

This is really delicious very fresh not sticky at all and bright red. I would definitely purchase this again.

Checked out a few reviews before purchasing. & they sold me on it. Package arrived. Tried it out and.... 1) doesn’t give you the nostalgic memory of the original red lace licorice 2) the taste has an artificial “strawberry” flavor, the sweeter side of a cough syrup 3) the texture is more gummy than waxy like the original red shoe-string licorice back in the day from the corner store. Wouldn’t order again. It does have the length but not the texture, flavor, or color. Hope this helps!
