When the stand is fully extended the microphone (Shure 58) is pointing at my forehead. So I'm pretty sure with a tube style recording condenser mic, you'd be fine. It's a well made stand and as good as anything you'd buy at the massive guitar store. **Q: Why is this described as having a "boom arm"? I see no boom arm in the pics. The mic stands are sturdy and the base is the reason for our purchase. We wanted to avoid the tripod models where you have to shuffle and position the feet correctly when standing in front of the mic. Also avoids tripping and kicking over the mic stand accidentally. The mic clips appear to be rather cheap however time will tell whether they are durable.
