With the hub as an add-on you can control locking or unlocking the door, keep track on usage (in & out times) , battery level, setting curfue, and other things thru wi fi app from another location. You will be very pleased with the addition of the hub. **Q: For the curfew, instead of locking the door, can you put a set it so that it turns to β€œin only” at a specific time each fay?** A: Yes. And also for certain cats. It can be set so one or more of your cats are controlled by curfue and others are not controlled by curfue. It can be personalized for each cat. **Q: Can this be installed in a wall?** A: I have installed one in an interior wall. Worked fine. **Q: Is this compatable with the Avid 9 digit chip?** A: "Compatible." I think so. The door can read all common pet microchips, even the German one in one of my cats. What it had trouble with was reading the chip in one of my cats, a big male. I think the chip is too far back on his shoulders to be read 100% of the time when he just gets near the door.
