How long does this stayed "good" after opening? I've tried other stuff that the birds seem to stop liking after it sits out for so long. thanks!

This is the only hummingbird food I get. I have tried other brands and it just sat with no activity. They absolutely love this. I refrigerate after opening. The hummingbirds enjoy it even when refilling the feeder with the cold stuff.

Hi, Sam! Under storage, it states "Refrigerate After Opening." I always purchase the 64 oz container and have a special place for it in the refrigerator. The is such an outstanding product that making refrigerator room is such a small accomodation! Enjoy, Elaine Brown!

Could I mix this nectar, half and half, with prepared sugar water?

This is just sugar water with some preservatives., glucose = sugar. There is no added nutritional value over just mixing white sugar yourself. Plus if you mix it yourself you’re not feeding them preservatives. Complete waste of money.

how can hummies drink this out doors when the bottle says refrigerate? made me pause after i bought it. don't want to give them food poisoning. anyone

The nectar does have a preservative in it to help keep it fresh. Depending on how many birds you have coming to the feeders refrigeration after opening keeps it fresh for months, even over the winter if in higher latitudes. I'm in St. Louis and my feeders are in full sun so I only put enough in the feeders to last 10 - 14 days then clean rinse and refill. It was amazing how much more the birds liked the Kaytee clear nectar. I'll never use anything else. BTW if the nectar gets too old they will just stop feeding.

My hummingbirds seem to love this nectar. I live in Santa Barbara and most of the hummingbirds are gone for the winter but the ones that stay in the area are definitely love this one because I’m still filling the feeders constantly. I’ve bought this nectar consistently for about a year now and I think I’ll keep buying it.

You get a lot in this. It didn't have any funny smells to it. I filled 2 feeders and see that I will probably have more for a while. I would say that the size is worth the money. Easy to pour, no issues.
