A wonderful book, highly recommend to anybody looking for a better approach to a world that seems to be greatly missing peace.

Not the same as the kindle edition
This is a great little book and the spirit of it is why it deserves 5 stars. However, I was a little disappointed that, being on the same listing as a different format of the same thing, that the paperback version is not the same expanded version as the kindle edition which I already had and love, that being the entire reason I wanted a hard copy in the first place.

The Art of Peace
`The Art of Peace' is a collection of quotes from the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba. This book is often portrayed as an accompaniment to Sun Tzu's `Art of War' but that isn't really the case and there is so much more to this book than merely that misrepresentation. This has a wide selection of quotes and poems from Ueshiba based on his martial art and from his experiences gained through a lifetime of training. They are often succinct and extremely insightful and this book is perfect to dip into for that quick burst of inspiration when you need it most. Be aware that there are two versions of this book, a normal sized book format and a small pocket sized format (3 inches wide by 4 ½ long). I thought I was ordering the normal size and received the pocket size instead and although I now often carry this around with me, it pays to be aware what book you're ordering so that you receive what you actually expect. This also has a brief introduction to put the quotes into context before you are left to explore the gems of wisdom enclosed. If you are an Aikidoka then this is required reading and if you just want some clear, concise and pertinent wisdom then this is well worth considering as well.Feel free to check out my blog which can be found on my profile page.

Yes I purchased this because of the Walking Dead!
Bought this in anticipation of becoming a Aikido specialist so that I could use a stick when fighting zombies, my view is you don't want a gun or a cross bow as you need to replace the ammunition. Did anyone else realise no one brushes their teeth on Walking Dead and also there were doctors but no dentists? Anyway, this book didn't work for obvious reasons but this has some nice teachings from the founder. If anything it encourages you to put that stick down and become calmer and nicer. You could fit this in a Christmas cracker it is that small so if you are visually impaired give this a flick.

For everyone, to improve your life
Anyone can find this book useful, and it fits in your pocket. It's not that hard to get in touch with what all the quotes are about. I wouldn't take it any of it too religiously, because of what one of the quotes of the book says: sincerity, one of the highest virtues. Sincerity means being sincere, true to yourself. And another quote, about there being many ways to the top of the mountain, but only one top. Ueshiba's was only one of the myriad ways.I've read Edgar Cayce's works, or Kevin J. Todeschi who wrote on his behalf, and practised tai chi, meditation and dwelled into plain real spirituality. This is a very useful book for anyone who wants to improve their own life, it gives you very simple tools for that. Best you can get for such a small price. Basic guidance, for anything. I use it to get along better in the dating scene, it works there too.Get it, you won't regret it.

Shorter and smaller than you'd think
It has some lovely teachings and messages, and it's a nice book to add to a collection, but it's very small and some of the pages only hold 1 sentence. Be sure to check the dimensions and know what you're getting.
