Would have been nice, but that is not in the mil spec and this bag is a decent imitation of that mil spec bag. **Q: Can ng i connect a sholder strap to this duffel bag?** A: yes you can **Q: what type of canvas, weight/strength is it? 1000 denier?** A: It's a cotton canvas, not sure what the weight/strength it is but very strong and durable. **Q: Realitively Waterproof?** A: I would say it's a waterproof as a Carhartt jacket.
