WIX Racing Filters Spin-On Lube Filter

You can read dozens of expert reviews, look at cut-apart diagrams, and comb through car forums inhabited by crusty old mechanics. Or you can save time and take my word for it: They all say that WIX filters are great quality, consistently produced and pretty reasonably priced (but not the cheapest). So why would you buy anything else? I use both oil and air filters in all my cars and my kid's car which I help him take care of.

This Wix 57002 filter is the correct filter for my 2015 Mazda 3. It also fit my 2012 Mazda 3 skyactiv. Wix makes OEM fitment and spec filter so that's cool.

Price is right, quality is great. Not much else to say.

I normally run OEM Skyactiv but decided to run this from wix. Better than Mazda Value filter (Mexico) and as good as higher value Mazda filter (Thailand).This WIX is specifically made for Skyactiv engine. No anti-drain back is included bc you don’t need one for this type of engine.

The filter itself had a small dent on the side and debris on the end cap and in the threads. The glue used on the relief valve is also all over the place which is not necessarily a problem but demonstrates poor craftsmanship. It also had exposed foreign material inside of it. It looked like black mesh of some sort. I didn’t bother removing it to examine it closer because I have to send it back for a refund. I have never had any problems with previous Wix products.Update: The seal failed on this Wix filter. I changed the oil today and found that some had been seeping from the seal. I’m not sure how much was lost but I measured about 1/4 quart low; some of what was lost may have also burned off. My 6 has 90k miles on it and has had 5k oil changes since the beginning. This has been the only oil filter failure I’ve had and the only Wix I’ve used. The other filters used were OEM (various part numbers) and Fram Ultra Synthetic. Do yourself and your Skyactiv a favor and stick with the OEM filters. For the record I didn’t dislike the Fram but its design is a bit different than Mazda’s.

These are one of tge few filters that are recommended for Mazda cx-5 skyactiv engines. Easy to install and remove.
