No Brainer Brat Cooker
So I washed the thing out when I got it (looked like some wax was in there to prevent rusting), started a fire, loaded it up with hot dogs, tossed it in the fire and was cooking the day I got it and MAN!! The thing cooks them perfectly. We normally roast using sticks or telescoping forks, but these are just load/cook/eat in like 5 minutes. The first batch took a little longer because the metal was cold (maybe treat it like cast iron and let it heat up while you prep), but my sons and I were roasting machines. You car hear them sizzling away in their own juices the whole time, none of them came out burnt or covered in ash, and they were piping hot through and through. I wish they make something for roasting marshmallows like this =D

You haven't ordered one yet?
My Grandfather had one of the first Pie Irons when I was a kid. When I saw this I knew I had to have it. (Also ordered the Pie Iron) This is wonderful. Was pouring down rain when it arrived. Lit the fireplace, and seasoned it, well, over the next few fires. Then the moment I was waiting for, real hot dogs. Still raining, we do live in the Northwest, so I did it in the fireplace. With hot dogs in it, the smoke pretty much filled the living room. Wonderful meal, not so happy spouse.

Met my standards for a gift - well built and appears to be very functional. Have not talked with the person to whom I gave it. After doing so I will update my rating.

Totally brilliant
I bought this to use at our pond because I got tired of hot dogs and brats that were sandy, dirty, and burnt. After I used it once, I went back and bought another. We have a big family and now we can cook 6 at once. Caution: Buy more brats and hot dogs than usual. These are cooked to be so yummy that everyone will want more than usual! They turn out crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. A little difficult the season just because they are rough on the outside and get really sooty, but I know that the more they are used, the less often I have to season them. These do NOT disappoint.

Great hot dog cooker!
This is the second time I’ve bought this. I used the first one for years until the cast iron pun came out and I couldn’t keep it in. I was happy to repurchase as this item is one of my favorite parts of camping. Tubular meat is the best form of nutrition!!!

A++ better than expected!
Love it. This works well. Heavy duty. Will last forever. U just have to wash it out and dry it after use oyherwise it will rust. Fastener is strong. The juices from the brats stay with the brats. Johnsonville are the best!! So tasty.
