Does it make a good key chain?

Yes, my husband and I have used it as a keychain for the past 2-3 years and it works great. Very lightweight and keeps keys quite organized. My only reservation is that for some reason the black locking mechanism on mine slide around every now and then and my keys fall off when in my purse or pocket. My husband hasn't experienced the same issue. husband hasn't had this issue so maybe I just due to the fact that my keys are in my black hole of a purse and faces much more abuse. I've since taken some pliers to expand the narrow hinge part of the carabiner and no long have the issue. Anyway, we think it works great.

Which size is good for keys? 2 or 4?

The #2 will be better for one or two keys. The #4 will be better for about 5 or 6 keys.

What is the size difference between the 2 and 4? Is it available in a waterproof version here on Amazon?

The 2 is tiny, you can attach maybe a couple of keys and a small Swiss Army knife. The 4 is a solid keyring, can get a ton on there. I don't see how solid metal with powder coating wouldn't be waterproof already...

No. This item is not waterproof and will rust over time if exposed to too much water. We do have a marine grade stainless steel version that stands up to water better but is not intended to be left in water for long periods of time.
