**Q: Will these strips detect iron oxide (aka rust)?**
A: Hach Iron Test Strips will detect dissolved iron only. Since rust does not normally dissolve in water, the strips cannot be used to detect rust.

**Q: How does the test display the iron concentration?**
A: The test strips display results in mg/L and has steps at 0.15, 0.3, 0.6, 1, 2 and 5 mg/L.

**Q: My apartment shower and kitchen sink water is leaving orange/brownish stains on towels, etc.  Is this the right test for me?**
A: It is possible that there is iron present in the sink water - these test strips will indeed help establish what level of iron might be in your water.

**Q: how long is the expiration date?**
A: The shelf life of this item is approximately 700 days.

In general it's fine to test my home water filtration system. I would like to have it be more accurate as it was still showing the lowest amout of Iron when testing distilled water.
