I have separate dj & karaoke setups & need a sound mixer (fx) exclusively for my karaoke player & mic's to powered speakers. is this a best option?

I'd recommend any of the Alto Mixers that have enough Inputs and Outputs for you. Their advantage is that the Turn Knobs for volume are far more durable than Sweep Blade Rheostats which get spotting and clicky from dust and then develop bold dead spots from age, not even being that old. I guess studios use Blades because they must be using easily replaceable modules, but just one Blade Control going dead on a portable mixer would kill the mixer. Yeah, my Home Studio was home to seven cats, with all that cat hair, and I worked with my hands coated in olive oil (I played flat wound strings and liked to slide through transitions without string 'squawk') and that combination had killed many a previous mixer.

How do i eq from rca inputs? rca inputs/outputs doesn't have eq settings like the other channels have

ALTO support here! The RCA aux inputs don't have the option of EQing. If you prefer EQing the audio, I would recommend using a cable that has 2 1/4" connections so you can plug your audio source to channel 5/6. This will allow you to play your stereo signal through a channel on the mixer with EQ options. what foot switch can i use for the effects

The FX out is just another Output, which you can connect to anything. Then from the Output of your Effects Box, whatever it is, you just lead it back to the Mixer's FX IN. I used to use that FX IN as just another INPUT, but I think I had to use a splitter on the Mixer's FX IN so I could connect the FX OUT directly to the FX IN and use the second leg of the Splitter for another Input. The Alto Mixer is really Low Noise and so it all still really sounded good, for a Home Studio.

Can this be hooked into the Tascam Pocket Studio 8 track recorder to make recordings

Well, the Alto ZMX122FX is more than my ZMX862 (the 122FX has that Effects Section and a few more channels), but yes, you will certainly be able to run some of my mixer Outs into the Ins of any Audio Interface Unit or Recording System. That's what Mixers are for. Yes, there are Mixers that have USB Outs that can go directly to a Computer, but then I would worry about the Computer's DAW (Digital Analog Audio Video Work Station... Mixing and Production Software). At some point in time their will be DAWs that will simply be able to work with whatever the Inputs are, but with so many Proprietors "Competing" against each other, we live in a World with a lot of unnecessary Waste. But, yes, the Alto ZMX122FX . You could get a good Left Right Stereo Mix of an entire small band into the Recording or two DAW Tracks.
