It's got a rough texture to it, but it's not rough feeling (like sandpaper). I walk on my barefoot regularly, and it doesn't cause any sort of discomfort. **Q: could this product be used as traction for going up a metal roof?** A: I am very disappointed in this product. The glue on the tape is very inferior and comes off almost immediately. **Q: Will it adhere to tile around a swimming pool under hot conditions-Mexico?** A: Yes ....it is great. The hot sun will probably deteriorate it over time **Q: Every review about safety tread tape has complaints about them coming loose. We live in the N.East and get ice and snow what do you recommend.** A: I have mine indoors and its never gotten wet. So I really don't know.
