Does this device connect wireless to Xbox, without any other hardware?

To answer your question thoroughly, NO, you have to plug in a jack to the optical audio port on the back of the console. Then from there, the optical audio cable runs to the front of the Xbox and plugs into the Bluetooth module that plugs in to the front USB port of the xbox. From there you have to run a aux cable from the mic to the headset. Huge PITA. I owned the headset for one day and it froze up on me and gave me the solid red mic light. Paid 199$ for junk!

Will this be compatible with Xbox one X?

It is universal, technically, it uses the Sony wireless sync making it the PS4 model but it is not limited to that. Now, as for your question whether it will be compatible or not, I cannot be certain with an answer here; all I know is this.. IF you don't have a PS4, you need the provided optical audio cable running directly into a USB Dongle plugged right into your console to transmit wirelessly to your headset (fun little extra wire hassle), which works just fine for Xbox One. Considering that, I would say yes it is likely compatible, as with its universal capability allowing you to use it for dang near anything (may experience subpar sound quality if using it for, say, a phone or tablet) it should be able to handle just about anything, again, potentially just not running at its full potential; i.e. you may find that Dolby Atmos wont work or something to that effect. Something else worth nothing as far as what it can, and cannot do, I originally got this for my Xbox One and WOW it does NOT disappoint!!! (BOOMING, rich Dolby Atmos with such depth at its finest!), and later began using it for the switch to a gaming laptop.. Now what it doesn't specify is that in order to get the full audio power out of this rig for a PC, is that you need a Desktop computer in order to jack the Optical Audio in directly. From my own laptop, and general understanding of other laptops; they don't have this feature, at least not within my budget! Anyway to wrap this up, since I cannot use the Optical Audio cable with my laptop, my Equalizer Modes are reduced to "Stereo, Super Stereo Wide, Super Stereo Front"... Discouraging to say the least, but I will say the volume output on this rig is still substantial and packs a heck of a punch! its just not the Dolby Atmos booming level of bass, depth and sound quality I had through Xbox One with the FULL, proper setup. Who knows maybe I'm not doing something right hah, but I've spent hours trying to figure out why my laptop just wouldn't run it at 100% potential and these were all the reasons myself, and my tech buddy could find as to why. I apologize for the lengthy answer, I realize this wasn't a question about PC, but I wanted you to be aware of the FULL picture of what It can do, can' do, and where its a bit half throttle on potential as this is a fair bit of cash.
