Plug and play Upgrade to current system without losing stock features and looks great in my BMW
I purchased for an 05 BMW 530i E60 with a stock 6.5" ccc idrive infotainment system (no aux or Navigation just am/fm, CD and phone Bluetooth), I desperately wanted to add Navigation and the ability to listen to satellite radio and my music apps. I researched options for months. I came across this PEMP android unit and it offered everything I was looking for. The install wasn't too bad. Had to make some option adjustments to get the sound right. Volume adjustments could be better... when getting a phone call and using Bluetooth or mobile Hotspot you cannot adjust during a call while driving so if the volume is too loud you have to go to the settings in order to adjust I found a comfortable setting but I would have liked to be able to adjust the volumethroughthe steering wheel controls. I installed the PEMP aux mod first then installed the unit. I also added the PEMP highest resolution backup camera. It all came together and ultimately did what I expected it to do. It wasn't cheap but a great upgraded addition to the old CCC idrive system that still allows original communication features. It's basically an android tablet so you can add apps, stream movies, use Navigation, ect. It looks like it came stock and makes the interior appearance look 10+ years newer. Will need some kind of screen protector/anti glare cover if putting on a movie for passengers. I am happy with it overall. This deserves solid consideration if you are like me trying to update the entertainment unit in my older BMW commuter vehicle. Also would like to mention the camera connector did not fit like the other connectors (the only connector was not an exact fit). I contacted the seller and they responded quickly and offered a small credit to the inconvenience of having to re-wire the connection. It wasn't about what they were going to give me or do for me it was fact they responded quickly and were willing to try and work with me to make me a satisfied customer and honestly that's all we want as consumers. I took a gamble because there weren't a lot of reviews from customers who purchased. Decent quality of the products, good communication from Seller, and everything arrived when it was supposed to. I would do it again. Hope this helps with your shopping research!

Very nice upgrade, nearly perfect
Works better than expected! Positives: - Linux OS boots up quickly when you start the car - Steering wheel buttons and iDrive knob works well to control interface (helpful since touch screen can be a bit hard to reach while driving) Installation issues: 1. Did not need AUX cable, did not need to route it to the aux port on my 2008 535xi 2. Very annoying trying to tuck to the extra wiring harness behind the radio... make sure to tuck it into the bottom left area behind the radio (before sliding the radio back in) Quality: 1. Audio quality for music is very good 2. Built-in microphone works well for Siri commands 3. A bit of "echo" for phone calls via Carplay (I am still paired to the car's bluetooth for phone calls through the vehicle's microphone) Overall, totally worth the money. I didn't use the old screen for anything, makes my car feel much more modern having Carplay built-in. My only issue is a little bit of echo during phone calls... I'm still using the car's bluetooth and that works well enough.

Great product but Bluetooth hardly connects
Beautiful graphics. Too much wires. Very hard to get head unit back in place. My I drive for the ccc does not work at all. I have been able to connect via Bluetooth 3 times in the 2 months I have had it. All 3 times it disconnected and would not reconnect to Bluetooth. No manual for apps or extra accessories. The instructions suck. Good product but can’t work the features without a manual. And of course I would like to know why although it has a wire that is identified for the I drive, it does not say or show where the wire is to be connected too. It’s been a very aggravating process

Great Upgrade Once Installed — PEMP 8.8" Linux Screen for BMW CCC
Installation Experience Installing this unit is not a simple plug-and-play process, especially if you are also adding a backup camera. The complexity doesn’t come from unclear instructions, but from the amount of work required to trace wires throughout the car. In my case, with a BMW 335i convertible, there were even more obstacles than usual. The biggest challenge was fitting the bulky harness behind the radio. My CD/DVD map unit takes up nearly all the space in the enclosure, which made routing the harness extremely difficult. I actually had to leave a coat hanger tucked under the interior panels to pull the harness back out while sliding the radio back in. Planning USB and video-in feed placement is also worth thinking through — I routed mine into the glove compartment, which worked well. All told, installation took me about 15 hours, with much of that time spent wrestling with the harness connectors and reinstalling the unit multiple times due to troubleshooting. Initial Issues & Support At first, the unit did not work properly. I experienced audio distortion and frequent cutouts, which turned out to be caused by a defective wiring harness. While it was frustrating, I was impressed with PEMP’s customer support. They worked with me to identify the problem and eventually sent out a replacement harness. Shipping took some time, but once it arrived, it fully resolved the issues. Performance & Usability After the correct harness was installed, the system performed very well: Audio quality is strong and stable with no distortion. Steering wheel and iDrive controls work seamlessly and feel intuitive. Switching between the original CCC interface and the Linux screen is smooth and reliable — one of my main concerns before purchasing. Screen fitment required some adjustment; I had to slightly modify the holder screw holes to get everything aligned correctly. Overall Impression Despite a rocky start, the PEMP 8.8" Linux Screen has proven to be a solid upgrade. Build quality feels good, and the functionality is exactly what I wanted: a modern CarPlay/Android Auto experience integrated into an older BMW system. Pros Strong audio and visual integration after setup Reliable switching between OEM CCC and new screen Excellent customer support when issues arose Good overall unit quality Cons Very challenging installation, especially in tight enclosures Harness takes up significant space and is tricky to manage Replacement harness took time to arrive Slight screen misalignment required modification Recommendation I recommend this unit if you’re looking to modernize your older BMW with CarPlay/Android Auto. Be prepared, however, for a challenging installation process — particularly if your car has a crowded setup like mine. If you’re comfortable with wiring work and patient enough to troubleshoot, the end result is worth it.

Prodotto davvero buono inizialmente ma dopo 2 anni si notano i difetti, dopo averlo pagato più di 700 euro mi ritrovo dopo due anni senza riuscire a contattare il venditore per avere un aggiornamento del sistema

Fantastic unit. A must have audio system upgrade for the BMW E60. This unit was delivered within 3 days from when I ordered, really impressed with how quickly it arrived in the UK, this is a credit to the Amazon delivery network. I had been thinking about a good upgrade for me E60 for some time when I came across this unit. As is the case with many E60 owners, I love the car, but the original audio system is a major let down with very limited functionality and week sound output. Functions - This unit is fantastic, it adds so much connectivity to the existing system such as android auto or apple car play, your choice of navigation app and basically anything you want from the app store can be installed on this android display unit, I have my prime video installed as an example. The unit has the option to change back to your original car display at the touch of a button (Required for resetting service items, tyre pressure reset etc) Please note, YOU MUST HAVE WORKING AUXILLARY ACTIVATED for this unit to function, the sound output from this unit goes to the existing auxiliary input 3.5mm jack in centre armrest of the vehicle, without this you will get no sound. I can also confirm that this unit works with both the original CCC and M-ASK BMW systems, mine is M-ASK and the unit works perfectly. Phone connects via Bluetooth, and you have the option of using either the original can Bluetooth for hands free or the android unit. Obviously, you can stream music via Bluetooth if you want but I prefer to use the excellent Android auto. You can also connect this unit to your Phones mobile hotspot to allow video streaming on the display unit and watch Amazon prime video for example. Rear Camera integration – This unit makes fitting a reverse camera very easy. I chose the bespoke replacement boot latch camera for mine which just replaces the existing boot latch and looks original. The android unit provides its own camera 12v power supply, and the unit automatically picks up the reverse trigger from the vehicle CAN BUS which means you do not need to add any additional wiring from the vehicle light cluster wiring or use a relay. The rear camera view automatically activates when you put the car in reverse and can be toggled on or off by pressing the PDC (Parking distance control) button by the ashtray. Front and rear parking sensors still work perfectly with the animation (Similar to the OE picture of the car and sensor lines) displayed on the reverse camera screen. The android unit can be controlled using the original Idrive controller and buttons on the centre armrest console and steering wheel controls can be used to skip music tracks and change volume etc. Installation Comprehensive fitting instructions come with the unit as well as a handy plastic trim removal trim. Fitting is not difficult, no cutting wires or soldering, this is plug and play. The most awkward part is feeding the required wires from behind the stock cd player up to where the existing screen is. I advise using a net curtain wire to find an initial path for the wiring and then simply tape the required android unit wiring on the end of the curtain wire behind the cd player with electrical tape before pulling the net curtain wire that is already fed through to the display area to draw the android unit wiring up to its required location. This unit will not have much effect on the existing sound quality of the audio system. It does have a equaliser app but in essence, it will sound the same as before it just pushes the sound through the existing Aux. I have done a relatively simple sound upgrade to my car which makes a massive difference but that is separate from this unit, this unit adds the much-needed connectivity and functions plus due to its fitted location, makes the car interior look younger. I highly recommend this unit, its not cheap but it adds so much to the car it is well worth it in my opinion. If I have missed any information in my review, please feel free to ask me any questions and I will try to help.
