What a great hanger! Only thing is it was in storage and no longer have the original screw and anchor system. Do you guys know the screw size?

The screws I received are #8 x 1.75" wood screws. If you're going to replace them, I would suggest buying something a bit longer. The screws only protrude about 1" past the back of the wood block. If you're mounting through standard 5/8" thick drywall, that means that there's only about 3/8" of the screw embedded in your drywall anchor or stud.

What is the advantage of this model versus the Hercules GSP39WB (no wooden base)? I want to hang an electric guitar on my drywall.

I've purchased 3 of the metal-base hangers and now I'm thinking of switching them out for wooden base hangers. I preferred the all black look of the metal hangers, but because of the 3 screw holes forming a triangle, I'm now worried that only the middle screw will go into a wall stud and I'd have to use drywall anchors for the other two screws that are spread apart. Since I live in a rental, don't want to make a bunch of large holes in the walls.

Has anybody used this with a nitro finished guitar? I want to hang a nitro finished Gibson acoustic but don't want to have any issues with the finish.

I have had my 1983 Gibson Custom Les Paul hanging on one of these for about 5 years now. I can barely see a blemish, but I can't honestly say it's because of the hanger. It is Nitro finished and a heavy guitar. I'm buying another hanger right now, so I'm obviously not concerned with the minute finish thing. Just looks a tiny less shiny where the lateral supports hold the neck. Almost need a magnifier to see what I'm seeing. I'm a bit OCD and maintain my guitars routinely. My other guitars have absolutely no noticeable blemishes from these hangers.

Will this mount hold an electric fender strat?

Ok, I asked my dad who I ordered these for and he said definitely. He said good for electric, acoustics as well as even bass'. Comes with a molly to put in the wall so very sturdy and holds a lot of weight.
