Look up how to replace or install a key cylinder into a mortise lock. It is pretty simple and you don't need to pull off anything other than the trim panel on the door edge (typically). After that, getting to the key cylinder and removing the old and adding this in is a pretty simple task.I got 3 keys with this item and they are solid as is the lock. They work VERY smoothly and are a vast improvement over my old keys and lock.Make sure your old cylinder is the same size as shown for this item in the dimension picture. Check the depth and width carefully.New key cylinder lock looks clean in the old door hardware.

I'm still giving it 5 stairs because it works exactly as it should and it works very smoothly and the price is incredible. I had an old Schlage mortise lock and replaced it with this. It almost fits perfectly but there are area where I had to drill a hole bigger or grind a little of the door away to make this fit. From the outside it looks great, from the inside I have some work to do but if I buy a thin piece of stainless and drill the holes right I will be able to cover up the holes on the inside of the door. Was it perfect for me...no. Is it the companies fault...no. If you have a new undrilled door, this is your lock.

Be careful when ordering! Description says the set of cores comes with 2 keys and a control key. Each core in this set comes with its own two keys and control key, it IS NOT a matching set as the description leads you to believe.

I replaced 2 sargeant cylinders at my office with this and I was surprised how perfect it fits, I'm glad I took a chance and the price is amazing and it looks great, took 2 minutes to set up

I bought french doors on clearance, but we didn't realize until it was installed someone had cut the door for a mortise lock. This lock set worked perfectly, it was more than half the price of a Baldwin. It's very heavy duty and sturdy. BUT after locking you must reset the switch under the lock teeth each time to unlock or it will lock you out....TRUST me!!! I also have a deadbolt on the door, so I put a small piece of heavy duty duct tape over the switch on unlock. It hasn't locked me out, again.

Did not fit. Easy return.
