An excellent small, serrated kitchen knife
If you're cooking for a family then you really need only three knives, a serrated small knife like this one, a 16cm chefs knife and a small smooth bladed paring knife. This is an excellent smallish serrated kitchen knife. It has a stiff rigid blade with a tang which goes right through the handle. The cheaper knives of this sort, including the Victorinox, are too thin and thus flexible and this is a safety defect. They will turn unexpectedly in slicing through a potato or carrot lengthwise, and you'll find yourself using them less. This one does not do that, and in lots of things its more precise and less effort and faster than using a chef's knife. The cheaper Nogent ones, not readily available, are stiff enough not to do this, but they are quite a bit smaller and more flimsy. Again, you will use them far less than this one. The serrations are on one side only, which will make it easier to sharpen when and if that becomes necessary. If you examine them under a magnifying glass, they are not all that precisely made. But that does not seem to affect the sharpness. To sharpen serrated knives by the way you use a thin rod sharpener and drag it through the hollows of the serrations. This will probably not need sharpening for quite a while however. In use, its perfectly balanced, a nice weight in the hand, and very sharp. You will find yourself using it more often and for more tasks than expected. Tomatoes of course, but also shredding cabbage or greens, separating out brocolli or cauliflower florets, slicing when you would previously have used a chefs knife. It will turn out to be the one you reach for much more often than you'd expect. You can spend half or several times what this costs. The really expensive ones claim to be Damascus steel and are sold with ridiculous levels of hype, but its doubtful they can be noticeably better in use. It is far better value and a lot safer than the cheap ones and should last forever. There is probably no point in spending more, this is about as good as it gets. The build quality and ergonomics of this are outstanding at any price. Its excellent value at list, and is outstanding at the discounted prices its currently going for on Amazon. I was sufficiently impressed to have bought the first at full price, but then several more of them in the Black Friday offer.

My favourite kitchen knife
I have also have the Zyliss Comfort Pro chef’s knife and bread knife. Like them, this is excellent quality, a nice weight with a comfortable handle. Above all it’s sharp, by far the sharpest knife I’ve ever owned. The size is just perfect and I use it all the time.

Knife good , packaging impenetrable
5 stars for knife. 1 star for totally impenetrable packaging which creates a severe risk of cutting oneself. Ok it’s understandable that you don’t want kids getting knives out easily , but it’s potentially dangerous and a slip risk to open the inner plastic and strapping.

So good I bought four
Treacherously sharp and remained so after 3 months of use. Comfortable to hold and use but someone with large hands may find it difficult to grip.

Very sharp
A brilliant knife for cutting vegetables especially tomatoes. Have to be careful as the blade is very sharp. Pity it doesn’t have a full blade protector.

Excellent for a small kitchen knife
Works really well. Not too heavy but, feels very solid in my hand. Handle is both comfortably and efficient. I haven't had it long but t blade appears to hold it's edge well. I'm very pleased with it
