Q: What size screws should I use to attach these to a cabinet made with 1/2" plywood?

You might get away with 1/2" x 6 or 8s...maybe a slight dimple in the underside. If you are covering the cabinet with fabric inside or out you shouldn't have any problems. IMHO

Q: Will these work for square edges

These work for square edges only if you remove the point of intersection of the three edges about a half inch....The point will hold the bracket out too far from the surface planes if the point is not removed!

Q: Do they come in polished brass 8packs? I noticed in your advertisement a set of polished brass 8 count but I can't locate those on the sites
