I first heard about Allison Weiss in AltPress' 100 Bands you need to know in 2013, and I checked out her single "Making It Up" which was a great introduction to Weiss' upbeat, yet honest and not-afraid-to-be-vulnerable lyricism. No surprise, when I first listened through her new album, "Making It Up" was the first track, followed by notable proceeding tracks "One Way Love" and "Nothing Left". I honestly could talk about the great qualities of each individual track, but what I would consistently say about them all is how deeply honest and emotional the lyrics are, and how they surprisingly blend smoothly with the poppy/rocky/indie/awesome music that supports them.Keep your eyes out for Allison Weiss; I have a feeling she is about to take this scene by storm, and this is the perfect album to do it. I highly recommend checking out some live performances of her on youtube - there is something special about seeing how connected she is to her songs as she performs them (particularly "Wait For Me", which is the true gem of this album). And buy this album. Heck, buy it twice, and give a copy to a friend!Top Tracks: Wait For Me, Making It Up, One Way Love, I Was An Island
