Review: As close to homemade as you'll find with all the right ingredients! Blue Ribbon in home taste test! - Why did you pick this product vs others?: OK, first off - I'm a really good cook. I've made my own syrup (and vanilla extract) for several years now. This stuff is as close to homemade as you're going to find on the market (save for maybe Etsy from another homemade cook). I only bought this after a little kitchen mishap (after over a month of 12-14 hour days / 7 days a week of working and sheer exhaustion). I purchased a variety of top rated syrups from desertcart and gave 6 a go. This one was by leaps and bounds better than the rest! Good job Sonoma Country! Taste: Excellent! Definitely taste a high quality, pure vanilla extract with the "caviar" to boot! Not sure which beans they use, but it's a nice touch to the regular Madagascar variety used by most of the other "all natural" syrups I gave a go before going back to cooking my own. I at least know if I am ever in a pinch, I've found my back-up "go-to." Exceptional syrup and earns the Blue Ribbon in my home taste test. Ingredients: Top shelf ingredients (and they do not skimp on the vanilla either)! VERY flavorful with a surprising bean I haven't quite figured out! Can definitely tell they used both the extract and the bean when cooking up their syrups! And since it takes 2 years to get the best flavor from homemade extracts, it would take me a LONG time to figure out (and there are too many bean varieties and only so much coffee a girl can drink). And although pricey, they do not water it down to make you pay even more in the end. I used less of this syrup to get the same sweetness but with a whole lot more flavor!

**Q: If this is lavender simple syrup. Why the vanilla extract?**
A: Hi, because we are a classic simple syrup, we use just a hint of our own special blend of Tahitian and Madagascar vanilla extract in all of our simple syrups.  We use organic, fresh Lavender flowers to infuse our Lavender Simple Syrup so the overriding flavor is lavender.  We hope this answers your question, and thank you for the inquiry. **Q: Where is this made?**
A: hiya...i've used up my bottle so cannot be 100%, but am pretty sure it's made in california.....you could call or email them directly to verify.

**Q: The reviews all talk about lavender simple syrup.  i only want vanilla simple syrup to use in pear drop cocktails.  is this vanilla or lavender or bot**
A: I would say this is truly vanilla. I have previously purchased Sonoma Syrup Co simple syrup in spearmint flavor & received exactly that. Hence my review referred to that flavor of syrup.

**Q: Will this mix with just water, as I would just like to flavor water?**
A: I have mixed it with mineral/sparkling water with great success (makes for a great lavender Italian soda) but never just tap water....though in theory it would work just as well but without bubbles.

If you're looking for legitimate top quality lavender syrup without fillers or dyes this is the way to go. The syrup is excellent in sparkling water, coffee, cocktails, etc. The only downside is it seems to take quite a bit for the lavender flavor to come through which means you'll be going through the bottle quicker and at ~$20 it isn't cheap. I wouldn't go as far as to say it isn't worth it, but for how much I've been using I may try making my own next time :)
